Staff Software Engineer, Enterprise

Toast is looking for a Staff Software engineer to lead our Enterprise Sports & Entertainment team. You will get to work across the entire Toast platform, including our POS, backend, and front end systems. As a member of the Enterprise Sports & Entertainment team, you will help deliver the most important features for our Sports & Entertainment and hospitality customers and directly impact Toast’s success.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features across Toast’s Sports & Entertainment product offerings
• Lead complex projects that improve functionality and reliability for our customers 
• Partner with a wide array of teams across Toast 
• Ensure quality by building automated testing for changes
• Roll* features out to customers, including monitoring for success
• Partner closely with Design and Product on the definition and design of features
• Partner with cross-functional functions including Customer Success, Solutions, Sales, Care, and Onboarding to ensure technical deliverables align with enterprise customer expectations and long-term strategy
• Mentor and coach other engineers
• Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

• 8+ years experience building backend services and APIs
• Extensive experience working with an Object Oriented Language like Java or Kotlin, with a deep understanding of testing, quality, and best practices
• Experience shipping production services and balancing getting things done with platform stability and reliability
• Experience building backend services and APIs and scaling distributed systems
• Experience building android applications with kotlin is a plus
• Experience building front end applications is a plus
• Focused on delivering positive impact for Toast customers
• Enjoys working in a team environment with a shared code-base
• Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics
