Primary Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Lifestyle Editor, the Astrology Writer, is responsible for writing, pitching, and helping to shape all astrology and cosmic health content. 

This writer will be responsible for writing and/or updating 20-30 stories per month, including assisting to manage a horoscopes newsletter. In addition to horoscopes content, this role will also be responsible for writing/reporting evergreen astrology content, including explainers around angel numbers, rising signs, zodiac compatibilities, negative energy, full moons, and more. 

The ideal candidate will have an eye for spotting trends and finding fresh ways to think about astrology—always with a wellness spin. This position requires impeccable writing skills, a wealth of innovative ideas, and an understanding of SEO best practices. This is an unique opportunity for a creative thinker to help us take this much-loved category to stellar new heights. 

A typical day as the Astrology Writer might include:

  • Writing/reporting, updating, and/or pitching a minimum of 1-2 stories daily
  • Working with a freelancer to publish daily horoscopes
  • Helping to manage an astrology newsletter
  • Brainstorming and pitching trending astrology ideas off the news and current events
  • Pitching and updating SEO and evergreen stories 
  • Utilizing tools like Google Analytics, alongside social media resources like TikTok, Instagram, and Google Trends to come up with fresh content ideas
  • Identifying, interviewing, and developing relationships with a diverse group of astrology and cosmic experts
  • Developing and maintaining a robust index of reliable and knowledgeable freelance writers
  • Working alongside the Head of Content, Deputy Editor, and Senior Lifestyle Editor to shape astrology content
  • Occasionally contributing to large scale editorial packages and brand projects as needed

Requirements

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications; OR equivalent established practice as an astrologer
  • 2-4 years of experience writing, reporting, and/or editing about astrology for a publication
  • Experience writing stories that adhere to SEO best practices; finding and interviewing experts
  • A demonstrated in-depth understanding of astrology and cosmic health
  • Ability to juggle multiple stories in various states of completion at the same time
  • Ability to use analytics tools and extract actionable insights from data
  • An interest in hosting social videos is not required, but a definite plus
  • A creative approach to problem solving and a passion for high-quality digital content

Compensation:

The starting base pay for this role is $67,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, and other perks.
