Common App is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the pursuit of access, equity, and integrity in the college admission process. Each year we support more than 1 million students, one-third of whom are first-generation, as they apply to our more than 900 diverse member colleges & universities using the Common App's free online application.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President of Diversity Equity Inclusion Belonging is a key leadership role within Common App. This individual will be responsible for developing and recommending strategies, programs, and initiatives that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture such that all team members experience a deep sense of belonging. The role will collaborate with key internal/external constituents to drive systemic change, promote DEIB at all levels, and create an environment where all employees feel valued and respected. The VP, DEIB will serve as a thought leader, advocate, and catalyst for change, working closely with leadership to advance our mission and impact.

 

This role will act as a strategic thought leader, report to the President & CEO, and work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. They will participate in related support and decision-making, while also collaborating with constituents at all levels of the organization to deliver solutions that align with organizational objectives, drive measurable results, and strengthen Common App’s culture and effectiveness.

 

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires:

  • Candidates must live in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Diversity and Inclusion, Social Sciences, Human Resources) or relevant experience (10+ years).
  • Proven and measurable success in leading DEIB initiatives in a non-profit or corporate environment.
  • Proven ability to lead innovation and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve measurable success demonstrating a collaborative style.
  • Experience leading high performing teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience reporting to the CEO and being a part of a team of senior organizational leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of DEIB best practices, strategies, and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement DEIB programs and initiatives that drive organizational change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to collaborate and engage key constituents at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills, including public speaking, facilitation, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead cultural transformation and change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Passion for social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
