Voting Services Project Manager

The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is hiring a project manager to work on tools that help voters exercise their right to to vote, and that help Democrats win campaigns up and down the ballot. Join our fully remote team of 50+ technologists to design and ship the world class tools campaign teams rely on to win elections and to empower progressives across the country. Our products provide campaigns, state parties, and sister committees with access to high quality data and tools.

We are a fully remote, distributed team living in 19 states and from a variety of backgrounds – some of us have worked in political campaigns, others in public sector tech, and others in industry. We value diversity in perspective, lived experience, and the many paths one may take in their career. We believe deeply in the promise of breaking the boom-bust cycle of political tech work and building technology infrastructure that will support campaigns from cycle to cycle, improving with every iteration.

This position will work on the Voting Services team which includes IWillVote.com, a voting location lookup tool, and LBJ, our voter protection software, as well as some supporting services and data products. These products are integral to supporting the right to vote and will play a key role in the 2024 election cycle.

We are deeply committed to equipping candidates and campaigns around the country with the resources they need to win, and we are seeking a project manager to collaborate with stakeholders, manage the acquisition and publication of relevant data and content, and ensure that we are building the best products for our users.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships to ensure that IWillVote.com and LBJ proactively meet user needs:
  • Support polling place acquisition & standardization by communicating and coordinating with state parties
  • Communicate with Voter Protection teams at the DNC and the presidential campaign, and with other stakeholders, to make sure voting requirements and other information on IWillVote.com are accurate and up to date.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to internal stakeholders on program-specific needs (e.g., translation of content into different languages)
  • Oversee the creation, editing, approval, and publication of content (Voter Education Pages, polling places, last-minute changes):
  • Chase down missing content / copy
  • Ensure up to date, accurate information on IWillVote.com
  • Support program requests for IWillVote.com “short links”
  • Manage content approvals across DNC Voter Protection, program, and legal stakeholders in DNC, Biden campaign, and state parties
  • Maintain a calendar of polling place acquisition timelines
  • Manage the activation of the polling location lookup tool on IWillVote.com for each state
  • Be scrappy and willing to jump in and support the team where it's needed most.

  • Qualifications and Experience
  • Be able to build trust with team members in a wide variety of roles with different backgrounds, and direct them to get things done in a timely manner, even when they do not formally report to you.
  • Be curious, collaborative, and humble – ready to work with a diverse, distributed team to solve interesting problems together.
  • Be passionate about ensuring everyone has access to information to vote. Experience with voter protection work is not required but is definitely a plus"
  • Have experience working with a fully remote team, or understand the opportunities and challenges with doing so.
  • Be comfortable jumping into ambiguous and unfamiliar tasks, and using your organizational and communication skills to define and clarify those tasks for others.
  • Take ownership over outcomes from my work, and prioritize delivering on those outcomes over adhering to a previously defined process or set of responsibilities.
  • Be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and transparently about the status of a complex process with a variety of audiences, including senior stakeholders with multiple priorities.
  • Have previous experience in an environment where you have had to juggle the needs of different stakeholders with shifting and competing urgent priorities.
  • Secure the future of our country! Right now a lot is at stake in our country and our team has a huge opportunity to make a real difference.
  • Work with amazing people. We’re building a diverse, distributed team, hiring the best people we can wherever they are—alumni from past Presidential campaigns working out of DC and New York, experienced product developers from the SF Bay Area, and more.
  • Never stop learning. There are people who know about politics and people who know about technology and a few who have figured out some things about how to combine the two, but we are blazing a lot of new trails and you should be comfortable exploring and learning from everyone you can.
  • The starting salary for the Project Manager position is $85,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for overtime wages and is fully remote. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
