Technical Writer

Job Purpose and Overview

We are looking for a full-time and highly self-motivated professional to join our Technical Communications team as a Technical Writer. In this critical role, you will work within our Technical Communications team that builds, supports, and extends our company’s infrastructure, allowing you ample opportunity to gain valuable insight into the company as a whole, broaden your skills, and grow your career. In the role of Technical Writer, you will report to the Manager of Technical Writing and be responsible for creating documentation and other forms of written communication that clearly and beautifully present technical information in a way anyone can understand.

What You Will Do

• Produce clear, accurate, attractive, and well-organized documentation of software and procedures, including conceptual overviews, knowledge base articles, tutorials, and user guides. Where appropriate, use screenshots, diagrams, animation, and charts to present information in the most informative way.
• Review existing documentation for clarity and consistency.
• Follow the department’s style guide, with attention to grammar, clarity, tone, and consistency.
• Create, review, and improve content aimed at technical and non-technical audiences, while maintaining continuity of style.
• Collaborate effectively with global teams across the company and translate verbal and written technical requirements from these stakeholders into documentation.
• Gain an understanding of the systems being documented to ensure the accuracy of the documentation.

What We Would Like To See
Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience writing software and other technical documentation.
• 1+ years of experience with Atlassian Confluence, including extensive use of macros and templates.
• Excellent computer skills, including Google Docs, Asana, Snagit, and Slack.

Soft Skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including spelling and grammar.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a technical degree with a strong inclination towards technical writing.
• Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, through published works or samples of work you will provide from previous employment. Writing samples will be mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, and effectively make judgments in prioritizing and time allocation in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand the audience’s needs and provide the information most important to them
• Enthusiastic about gaining new technical knowledge.
• Capable of performing effectively in a global team, which operates under many time zones.
• Ability to take input from non-native English speakers and translate it into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation.
• Ability to exchange information with technical and non-technical individuals clearly and concisely.
