Technical Program Manager

Reporting to the VP of Global Operations, the Technical Program Manager will play a pivotal role in steering multiple product development projects to success, orchestrating efforts across diverse teams to innovate and deliver top-notch products that exceed client expectations.

As a seasoned professional with a proven track record in project management and a deep technical background, you will foster a collaborative environment, encouraging open communication and facilitating the seamless exchange of ideas to nurture innovation. Building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders globally will be central to your role. Leveraging a data-driven, metrics-focused approach, you will oversee key projects, ensuring alignment between technical developments and our broader organizational strategy. Proactively identifying and mitigating risks, you will utilize your keen eye for details to anticipate challenges and devise strategies that secure project success and client satisfaction. Your role will also entail overseeing the judicious allocation of resources, ensuring that projects are not only successful but also financially efficient and within the stipulated budgets. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills will be instrumental in presenting complex information clearly and effectively, being a pivotal force in steering projects to successful completion.

As the Technical Program Manager, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Ensure timely and within-budget delivery of projects through meticulous planning and cross-functional team coordination.
  • Develop and maintain project scope, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Serve as the liaison for stakeholders, facilitating clear communication of project plans and updates.
  • Build trust with stakeholders across different time zones.
  • Identify and resolve project bottlenecks and manage risk proactively.
  • Balance business requirements with technical constraints efficiently.
  • Create detailed technical documentation to support product development.
  • Manage resources strategically to facilitate successful product development initiatives.
  • Implement process improvements and uphold best practices in project management.
  • Align technical initiatives with broader organizational goals and strategies.
  • Leverage technical expertise for informed decision-making in project development.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to bring innovative solutions to the organization.
  • Facilitate change management to help teams adapt to evolving project landscapes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field; Master’s level degree, advanced professional degree, or business degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, including managing complex projects concurrently.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Asana, Google Suite, and JIRA.
  • Experience with Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
  • Highly organized, adept at building and maintaining strong relationships, excellent written and verbal communication skills, continuous learner, thrives under time pressure, adaptable.
  • Familiarity with AWS product suite.

Nice to have:

  • Holding relevant project management certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master.
  • Change management experience, guiding teams through transitions successfully.
  • Quality engineering experience.
  • Experience in writing technical proposals for public and private sector opportunities.

Pay Transparency:

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Blackbird.AI is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York. It takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Blackbird.AI, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is expected to be $110,000 - $160,000. This range may vary for positions outside of New York and as it has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled and does not consider our bonus and commission structures.

Regardless of location, candidates can expect during the first few conversations with Blackbird.AI’s Talent Team and Hiring Managers to share any approved budget and details on our competitive bonus and commission packages.
