Technical Account Manager

Everything happens somewhere - which is why spatial analytics is fundamental to companies trying to understand the “where” and the “why” of their business. CARTO is the leading cloud-native location intelligence platform, trusted by data scientists, data analysts, and developers from companies such as T-Mobile, Mastercard, NHL, Coca-Cola, and Deliveroo to provide geospatial insights for use cases such as site selection, geomarketing, network planning and much more.

With an exceptionally diverse team of 170 people spread across the US and Europe, CARTO is changing the way companies analyze location data - making it simple to do this straight out of modern, cloud data warehouses. Redefining its category, the company has grown rapidly in recent years providing a compelling alternative to legacy GIS software.

Our Technical Account Manager (post-sales) is both technical and creative, and will enjoy solving new and complex problems. We work to sharpen our technical skills and learn new cloud and geospatial technologies to solve a wide range of problems and use cases.

The position is fully remote, based in the Eastern US region.

You will:
  • Work with our largest, most strategic customers as a part of the (post-sales) Customer Success organization.
  • Transform requirements into a real deliverable utilizing your expertise and other internal resources.
  • Empathize and understand our customer’s challenges; build a vision for a solution that solves a business problem; and enable the customer to make critical business decisions using CARTO and our cloud partners.
  • Establish a trusted advisor relationship with our most strategic enterprise customers across different verticals.
  • Maintain high levels of engagement to ensure your customers see value from insights, increase adoption, and uncover new uses for CARTO’s location intelligence tools.
  • Communicate effectively in both technical and business discussions, with both technology users and executive-level decision makers.
  • Architect and implement solutions for use cases such as Site Selection, Territory Planning, Geomarketing, or Market Analysis.
  • Strategize with the customer on a use case maturity plan and growth with CARTO.
  • Develop proofs of concept, prototypes and small applications using the CARTO platform.

  • Requirements:
  • Be a great communicator.
  • Be passionate about technology but also eager to learn how that technology can be applied to solve business problems.
  • 3 or more years of expertise in GIS consultancy using any mix of geospatial technology and tools
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with geospatial technology and tools, particularly open source tools and libraries.
  • Hands-on or knowledge of major cloud platforms (particularly data warehouses) such as Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery), Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon Web Services (Redshift), etc.
  • Experience working on solution-oriented apps using a wide range of technologies such as Python, Javascript, PostGIS, SQL, APIs, and more.
  • Ability to develop applications in HTML/CSS and Javascript (bonus points for React with Redux), and perform data analysis using SQL/Python (it’s okay if you are stronger in one or the other, but a willingness to learn both is key!)
  • A collaborative work style. Proven ability to develop successful collaborations, trust, and communications with executive leadership, technical and support teams, along with different users of the software.
  • A positive mindset. You’re motivated with a sense of urgency in executing and delivering growth. You run quickly with little supervision
  • Most of all, you are optimistic, data-driven, smart, and eager to learn!

  • Benefits:
  • Competitive, results-based compensation.
  • Flexible work hours in a focused but casual environment
  • Access to private medical insurance
  • Employee Stock Option Plan
  • Growth prospects at a truly welcoming multicultural and multilingual company with a supportive, team-work oriented work environment
  • A big vision: to help the world use location-based data to make better decisions. We believe that openness and sustainability are baked into this vision, and we’re sharing it with the world.
