Talent Development Partner

Are you excited by the prospect of having an impact on the performance and development of employees by building a culture of learning?

Then Jobber might be the place for you! We’re looking for a Talent Development Partner to be part of our People department.

Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!

Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The team:

The People team at Jobber builds an environment where the very best people can do amazing work. From your first point of contact with one of our recruiters, through your onboarding to your performance and time in the company, the People team is here to help you be successful during every aspect of your time at Jobber.

A part of our larger People department, the Talent Development team focuses on helping the people who help small businesses to be successful. We ensure that Jobberinos are equipped to be successful by making sure they have access to the right support and resources, allowing them to maximize performance and impact in their roles.

The role:

Reporting into the Senior Manager, Talent Development, the Talent Development Partner will own the end-to-end learning development process by strategically partnering with areas of the business to provide learning opportunities that align with Jobber’s strategic objectives.

This team helps to ensure Jobberinos are equipped to do their best work and make an impact. You'll contribute to this by driving learning and skill development through identifying the learning needs of the company and providing timely and relevant learning solutions. You’ll also contribute to impactful work like departmental onboarding, program strategies, training recommendations - just to name a few.

The Talent Development Partner will:

  • Collaborate and listen. You’ll collaborate with People Business Partner’s, People Leader’s, and other stakeholders across our Product  teams, to identify training and development needs through assessments, analysis, performance reviews, and consultation. You’ll take the nuggets of information and turn them into actionable strategies.
  • Design and implement. You’ll design and develop engaging and inclusive learning resources to enhance functional/technical skill sets, leadership and interpersonal skills, through things like eLearning content, storyboards, user guides, tutorials, instructor guides, case studies, assessments, videos - the sky's the limit!
  • Build high impact learning moments. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders to build and maintain their team’s functional (departmental) onboarding to ensure new hires are ramped up quickly. You’ll also develop and facilitate workshops and team-specific learning programs.
  • Evaluate and upgrade. You’ll continuously assess the efficacy of talent development initiatives, making adjustments as needed, and help to instill an environment of ongoing learning throughout the organization. We want to ensure continuity beyond a dedicated learning experience, so you’ll track and report on the progress of learning programs and the development of individual employees and make relevant recommendations.
  • Oversee the LMS Administration and Learning Tool Management including course creation, enrollment, tracking, and reporting.
  • Be an ambassador of our culture. Being humble, supportive, and giving a sh*t are baked into our DNA. You’ll work alongside the People team in various employee initiatives focused on supporting these values, as well as our mission in helping small businesses.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Learning and Development Specialist, leveraging your understanding of adult learning theories to create impactful learning experiences in fast growth and high performance companies.
  • A Partnership Mindset. You are eager to connect with stakeholders and your team members to constantly keep a pulse on the learning and development needs of Jobber. You’re supportive and open to opinions outside of your own and have no problem asking others “How can I help?”
    • Bonus points if you’ve worked alongside groups like Engineering, Product Design, and Product Management, before.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. You can effectively express ideas in written, visual, virtual and live facilitation formats. You’re able to tailor your communications to meet the needs of various audiences.
  • Initiative. If you see an opportunity for improvement, you’ll identify a solution and own seeing it through to completion.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations. You’ll need to be able to embrace new ideas quickly and should thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to adapt and pivot. Priorities change constantly and situations arise that require you to be flexible with your schedule.
  • Comfort and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning platforms, and/or virtual classroom tools, and other learning technologies.

Please note: This role will require North American travel, up to 20% to support our learning programs.
