Purpose
The Climate Bonds Initiative’s Agri-Food team works to accelerate the transition of agriculture and food (agri-food) toward net-zero, resilient, and sustainable systems, via mobilising finance needed for that transition.
This Analyst will be responsible for developing the criteria that set the requirements for how agri-food systems must transition to achieve the Paris aligned goals.
Duties and responsibilities
- Developing thought leadership for each component of the Agri-Food system to be tackled. This includes undertaking high level research online and key stakeholder interviews to:
- Support the technical development of CBI’s criteria for Agri-Food Systems, which includes:
- In conjunction with the Agri-Food Lead, manage the criteria development process to ensure that the development of criteria reflect scientific consensus on definitions, and market needs, and are driven and supported by the Technical Working Group.
- Supporting the roll out of a market education program that builds understanding and use of the criteria. This includes internal and external webinars and discussion pieces.
- Within CBI, provide expertise and support on all queries relating to agri-food systems.
- Producing and managing the development of high quality-visuality appealing analytical reports, briefings, and other publications on Agri-Food Systems Transition.
- Liaising within and outside Climate bonds on transition data enquiries and representing Climate Bonds with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Agri-Food Lead in managing the team’s tasks and working collaboratively within the Agri-Food Systems Transition Programme and the Standards team.
Requirements
Essential
Qualifications
- Degree in relevant subject or equivalent, including aspects of climate science, agriculture, or environmental science.
Experience
- Considerable experience in research and data analysis, including research and communications (writing and presenting).
- Basic experience in the Agri-Food sector.
- Basic experience in Climate Transitions.
Skills and Competencies
- An interest in the role finance plays in up-scaling climate solutions.
- Ability to manage, coordinate and prioritise projects and tasks.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, outgoing.
- Organised.
- Excellent English writing and oral skills
- Desired to work remotely within a dispersed international team.
Desirable
Qualifications
- Master or PhD degree in a topic related to climate and agri-food systems
Experience
- Considerable experience in scientific analysis in Agri-Food Systems and Climate.
- Knowledge of sustainable finance markets.
- Knowledge of market analysis.
