Company Description

We are looking for an experienced Sub Editor to join our Magazines & Supplements hub. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continued quality and accuracy of Reach’s print magazine offerings including, but not limited to, OK!, New, Notebook, S and Love Sunday.

So, who are we?

We are Reach Plc, you might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland’s most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human.

Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will work within the Production Department in the Celebrity Magazine & Supplements Hub to ensure all copy is fact checked and grammatically correct, always adhering to the house style. You will ensure content is engaging, entertaining and original. You will rewrite copy when necessary to make it pop and ensure all pictures are credited correctly.

You will write accurate captions for pages, ensuring the navigation around the page is easy to follow. You will create punchy headlines, standfirsts and pull quotes, while ensuring all pictures are correctly credited. You will help to maintain and communicate clear brand identities for all magazine titles. This role will involve occasional weekend and evening working, so a flexible approach is required.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You are an exceptional NCTJ qualified journalist and experienced sub editor with a proven track record of subbing celebrity focused content, ideally in a fast-paced weekly magazine environment. You have an excellent understanding of the OK!, New! Notebook, S and Love Sunday brands and will confidently adapt to each magazine’s style.

You have demonstrable experience subbing print content and first-class copy-editing skills and can keep up with the pace of subbing multiple magazines a week. You can check facts quickly and accurately and can meet deadlines with ease.
