About the Role
The Athletic is seeking an energetic self-starter with enthusiasm for collaborative work to join our Creative Development team as a content creator focusing on how-to-watch guides and other content related to streaming coverage of live sporting events. The successful candidate will have a willingness to take on complex tasks big and small as they work cross-functionally between editorial, sales and business development to help support long-term partnerships.
This role will be remote for candidates located in the United States or Canada only.
Responsibilities
Research, write and edit multiplatform content related to coverage of live sporting events.Ensure we’re meeting content integration obligations related to partnerships.Partner with Creative Development, Editorial, Sales and Marketing teams to execute new content experiences that drive subscriptions, engagement and revenue.Collaborate with the newsroom and the rest of the business with a particular focus on long-term partnerships in the media/entertainment world.Collaborate with our business development and sales teams on key revenue-driving initiatives that require editorial contributions.Assist in communication between key editorial and HQ stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination on key initiatives. Liaise with the Analytics teams to help with planning and implementation of content strategy and to monitor success metrics. Partner with newsroom leaders and commercial teams to own IP across various platforms and content types.Communicate results to internal stakeholders.Requirements
2+ years of editorial experience, ideally in sports environment.Clean, skilled writing skills in long-, medium- and short-form formats.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.A hustle-first mentality — this business and industry move quickly. Deep sports knowledge.A passion and understanding of The Athletic, our talent and our content.Thorough knowledge of the journalistic process.Critical thinker who can provide productive input about content promotion, partnerships and product.Operational experience an asset.The annual base salary range for this role is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
