About the Team:
You’ll be working as part of a small but essential team making important decisions and improvements to our infrastructure. You’ll work closely with the data engineering team and be supporting initiatives that span across their various applications from the ground up. About the Job:
Responsibilities:
- Engage in a highly collaborative team environment where your expertise is required to suggest the best options to lay the foundations for cloud architecture, scaling, development opportunities, cost savings, and vulnerabilities
- Design, develop and integrate highly complex DevOps pipelines, including build automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), security, monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Build enterprise technology solutions in DevOps, Cloud (serverless environment), API and Container Management, performance, and stability using Agile methodology
- Take on work already in-line with projects and deliverables and research new projects (R&D)
- Develop long-range plans to adopt cloud best practices and ensure high-quality project delivery
Skills / Experience You Have:
- 3+ years experience as a AWS cloud engineer, 5+ years of experience in a DevOps/SRE role.
- Strong knowledge of the Cloud Architecture Pillars
- Experience designing complex cloud solutions based on AWS and have the ability to plan the implementation of these solutions.
- Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking about business, products, and technical challenges to stakeholders
- Strong expertise in developing applications in Serverless Frameworks, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, CloudFront, Lambda, EventBridge
- Strong hands-on experience in AWS and Serverless Environment
- Experience implementing IaC in AWS with Terraform
- Must have strong scripting expertise
- Advanced hands-on DevOps automation skills (Containerization, API management, multi cloud-solutions)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with familiarity working in an agile environment.
- Enthusiasm for working in a startup environment and the ability to be cross-functional.
- 1 or more of the AWS Professional certs
- 1 or more of the following: CKA, CKAD, CKS.
- 1 AWS Specialty certification
Skills / Experience Preferred:
- 3+ years experience as a AWS cloud engineer
- Experience designing complex cloud solutions based on AWS and have the ability to plan the implementation of these solutions.
- Experience in the following:
- Planning and executing migrations
- CI/CD Setup
- IaC (Terraform, Cloudformation, AWS CDK, Pulumi, etc)
- Scripting
- Containers (Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, etc)
- Cloud Security Best Practices
- Networking
- Incident, release, problem, and change management processes
- Knowledge of least privilege principle, application structure and OOP patterns.
- Documentation
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Information Technology or Computer Science.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Nevada, Rhode Island, Washington, and New York City residents* $117k- 210K base salary + RSUs + benefits.
Salary at SmartAsset is determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the contiguous United States.
