About this role
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Developer/Database Administrator with expertise in migrating legacy projects to join our team. As a migration specialist, you will be responsible for migrating a mental health software system from a legacy platform to the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server. This role requires in-depth knowledge of SQL Server, stored procedures, triggers, views, and general database administration (DBA) tasks. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless transition of the mental health software, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance throughout the migration process.
Responsibilities:
Analyze the existing software and its database structure to understand the legacy system's functionalities and requirements.
Design and develop migration strategies, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring compatibility with the target SQL Server version.
Write efficient and well-optimized stored procedures, triggers, and views to support the migration process and enhance overall system performance.
Perform database administration tasks, including monitoring and optimizing database performance, managing security and access controls, and troubleshooting issues that arise during the migration.
Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the migration process by validating and reconciling data between the legacy and target databases.
Collaborate with the development team to ensure seamless integration of the migrated database with the mental health software application.
Document the migration process, including migration plans, technical specifications, and any modifications made to the database structure or code.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a SQL Server Developer or Database Administrator, preferably with experience in migrating legacy projects
Strong knowledge of SQL Server and related tools, such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Experience with database migration projects, preferably involving legacy systems.
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database triggers.
Familiarity with performance tuning techniques and best practices.
Solid understanding of relational database concepts, indexing, and query optimization.
Experience with data modeling and entity-relationship diagrams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator, are a plus.
