Job Summary

The Solutions Engineer is here to support our analytics and engineering services within our cloud-based services and solutions team. Solutions Engineers are well-rounded individuals comfortable with software development, DevOps, and SysAdmin. Solutions Engineer I demonstrates the ability to take on these responsibilities, while Solutions Engineer II demonstrates control of those responsibilities and leadership qualities.

Potential Responsibilities: (dependent on interests and experience)
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of our PaaS product and tools to both support it and its users
  • Facilitate the consistent implementation of innovative deliverables in collaboration with other MetrumRG scientists
  • Help ensure the shipping of consistently high-quality software tools
  • Assist in the building, deploying, and maintaining of infrastructure in public cloud platforms such as AWS 
  • Configure and maintain continuous integration pipelines and other automation activities
  • Write performance benchmarks and analyze bottlenecks
Qualifications:
  • 1-3+ years of programming experience in Go or Typescript / Javascript
  • 1-3+ years of containerization experience
  • Experience with a version control system such as git
  • Ability to work well as part of a project team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good at providing and receiving constructive feedback
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering or quantitative field or equivalent job experience
  • Desirable: Experience with CI / CD tooling and or platforms
  • Desirable: Linux and Unix-like systems administration and exposure to containerization with Docker
  • Desirable: Exposure to AWS as a Cloud Provider
  • Desirable: Exposure to Terraform or other IAC Platforms
Physical Demands

The job frequently requires working at a computer terminal, standing or sitting, and the ability to operate the computer with proficiency.

The work environment is quiet with no adverse conditions.
