Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to join the NOAA Mission IT Services (NMITS) contract. The successful candidate will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Cloud and National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) initiatives. NMITS allows NOAA missions the ability to procure IT tools and support in areas such as enterprise services, application administration, enterprise and cloud computing, data and voice network services, cybersecurity, and information assurance. Join a dynamic team which will play a critical role to NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation's economy and protection of lives and property.

Responsibilities:

• Develops technical designs and specifications for software products.
• Software development technologies and tools to build, test, and maintain product modules, components, and subsystems.
• Provides technical leadership to lower-level developers. May provide product demonstrations and participate in trade shows and seminars. May require interaction with customers, vendors, and external development partners.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
• Microsoft Visual Studio and NetBeans IDEs
• UML software design tools (Enterprise Architect)
• Programming with MS SQLServer DB and/or Postgres DB
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn Fortran.
• Programming with scripting languages (Perl, JavaScript, PowerShell, etc.)
• Strong working knowledge of Service Oriented architectures.
• Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Git and other software version control or management tools.
• Atlassian tool suite (Jira, FishEye/Crucible, BitBucket, etc)
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
• United States Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting NOAA programs.
• Able to work both independently and collaboratively in groups.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Looking for an individual who is a self-starter, motivated to take on technical challenges and who is excited to learn.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
