The Harris Poll is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to join the Media, Entertainment, and Technology team and create high-impact work that solves client challenges. Primary day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around driving and managing many different types of research engagements, including quantitative and qualitative, global and US-based, for media and entertainment clients especially. Our team focuses primarily on custom research projects, both among the general population as well as among members of clients’ insight communities.
As Senior Research Analyst, you will support all aspects of the research process and support the management of end-to-end research projects (with Research Director partnership and oversight), from designing the research instrument to the first pass of data analysis to creating reports that are visually appealing and answer the client’s business questions. Great writing and narrative storytelling are integral to success in this position. While this role will have ample team and company support, the ability and proclivity to be pro-active and autonomous is also critical.
Our day-to-day work and rhythms are dynamic and fast-paced but can be unpredictable, so the successful Senior Research Analyst will be able to help identify efficiencies, create processes, and jump in wherever needed, even occasionally into tasks or work that may normally sit with other team members.
The Media, Entertainment, and Technology team are mostly based on the West Coast, along with our clients so we are looking for someone that can work PST hours.
Responsibilities:
Manage media/entertainment client interactions on most engagements, which may involve daily touchpoints Bring strong analytical, narrative, and visual design skills to bear in creating reports and presenting results to clients and stakeholdersTranslate data into the story (or stories) of a study through clear writingExecute all aspects of the research process with excellence and independence, including devising a timeline and budget; helping to design studies and proposals; contributing hypothesizes that frame report planning; synthesizing data and analytics to create insights and narratives that drive actionable recommendations; presenting results to client teamsManage projects (usually more than one at a time) by liaising with internal teams to make sure milestones are met and also by communicating with clients on progressOwn project tasks, proactively thinking of potential challenges and coming up with solutions Develop questionnaires both from scratch and from client outlines to near-final or final draftsCheck survey links for quality and accuracyMonitor field management, including validating early data, conducting regular bad case searches, and flexing quotas as neededCreate tab and analysis plans aligned with client objectives and lead regular communications with the advanced analytics team, when neededProactively support client research needs and goals, contributing innovative ideas and relevant solutions that exceed client expectations upon deliveryPossess broad market research experience and understanding of different methodologies and approaches and how those relate to specific client business needsConsistently exceed client expectations and strengthen relationships to support team revenue growthSupport and learn to lead both large-scale and quick-turn projects through collaboration with colleaguesSupport strategic insight community initiativesExecute project management and basic programming (Programming training and support is provided)Skills and Qualifications:
2+ years relevant custom research experience as an analyst, client or supplier side, with a focus on quantitative researchBA/BS with strong academic recordRoll-up-your-sleeves mentality and commitment to be flexible to get the job doneStrong time management skills to prioritize tasks and act as the pace keeper across multiple projects ensuring deadlines are metA strong attention to detail ensuring tasks are completed and deliverables are sent with accuracy and precisionExperience working with large complex data sets and comfort with finding the story behind the numbersStrategic and big-picture thinking with both research objectives and internal team processes Familiarity with complex research methodologies (MaxDiff design, conjoint analysis, and segmentations)Experience in media and/or entertainment highly preferred, client or supplier sideAn enthusiasm for keeping up with the latest news in the entertainment industry and an ability to relate entertainment and media clients and their research objectives to current industry trendsExcellent Microsoft Suite skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Google Slides) and writing skillsExcellent oral communication and client service skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work harmoniously and effectively within a team and across teamsStrong visual/aesthetic sensibility to bring to highly designed client deliverablesPluses would be experience with technology clients, B2B research, an interest in trend hunting and noticing new cultural happenings as they emerge, familiarity with SPSS and experience with qualitative research design and reportingThe Harris Poll is a strategic marketing consultancy that delivers social intelligence for transformational times.
