About Mux

Mux is video for developers. Our mission is to democratize video by solving the hard problems developers face when building video: video encoding and streaming (Mux Video), video monitoring (Mux Data), and more. Video is a huge part of people’s lives, and we want to help make it better.

We’re committed to building a healthy team that welcomes a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. We want people who care about our mission, are ready to grow, believe in our values (from Be Human to Turn Customers Into Fans), and want to make the people around them better.

You’ll be joining a tight-knit team with experience at places like Google, YouTube, Twitch, Zencoder, Fastly, and more. Our founders previously started (and sold) Zencoder, an early leader in cloud video technology, and authored Video.js, the biggest HTML5 video player on the web. We organize Demuxed, the premiere conference for video engineers in the world.

We’re backed by top investors like Coatue, Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, and Y Combinator. You’ll get to work with amazing companies: hundreds of startups, plus Reddit, Vimeo, Robinhood, CBSi, Discovery, PBS, and TED. Customers large and small love working with us and love our team.

We are building something big together. We’d love to hear from you!

About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager working on Mux Video and Mux Data, you will focus on the intersection of video and analytics. Mux was founded on the importance of having detailed insights into video playback and using that information to create a great video streaming product. We are looking for someone to lead in building data-derived capabilities for developers using Mux Video and improving Mux Video's operational visibility. You will work with customers from across the video streaming industry and internal teams to identify and develop the most impactful projects. We're looking for a product leader who has a passion for using data and customer insights to help build an innovative platform that can enable customer success.

What You'll Do

  • Enable Mux teams to create value for customers and the business while working with your functional partners. Development execution is usually managed by the engineering team, you lead by influence and partnership.
  • You will be involved in all phases of products and features: product strategy, needs discovery, product specification, execution, and go-to-market.
  • Drive a metrics-focus to understand the usage and adoption of your products and features.
  • You will understand video streaming but are surrounded by a company full of friendly, passionate video experts so you will deeply understand the customer needs more than the technical design.
  • Work with the go-to-market teams to bring new features to market.
  • Be an contributing member of a team of PMs and Designers who help increase our impact, individually and collectively.

Who You Are

  • You're excited about video, including the size of the problem space, the scale of internet video, and the potential to help build new video-related experiences.
  • You're looking forward to building products for developers and have experienced the difference between APIs that were added as an afterthought and APIs that make it dead simple for you to build powerful things.
  • You know how to measure the quality of video playback or have used video analytics tools before.
  • You have 2+ years of product management experience specifically, with 5+ years total experience in product, design, or engineering-related work. Some engineering experience or education is preferred.
  • You're a good writer, speaker, and communicator across a variety of mediums.
  • You're organized and have an aptitude for week-to-week project management, as well as long-term product planning.

In our commitment to provide transparency with candidates, we openly share base pay ranges for all job postings within the United States, regardless of the state. These pay ranges are established using standardized criteria, including job function, level, and location. They're also benchmarked against similar companies in a similar stage of growth. The starting base pay for this position is between $160K and $220K. Actual pay is influenced by various factors such as location, skills, depth of experience, and internal equity.

If you don't have all of these requirements but think your experience could be a great fit, that's okay! Please apply and we can talk about what's most needed in the role.
