Senior Engineering Manager Core AI

Location- open to 100% remote

As a Senior Engineering Manager for the Core AI team, you will lead the Core AI team in the development of innovative ML/AI-powered product capabilities. This team collaborates closely with other Product Development teams and works through the entire feature lifecycle including ideation, dataset construction, experimental validation, prototyping, production implementation, deployment, and operations. This team also acts as an overall center of excellence for ML/AI expertise within the company, and is responsible for reusable ML/AI platform components and services.

You are an experienced hands-on leader with a track record of shipping production ML/AI capabilities that deliver demonstrable customer value. You have technical depth and breadth across ML/AI fundamentals, data management, and modern cloud-based software architectures. You are capable of context-switching between advising an ML Engineer on troubleshooting model accuracy, driving team-level quarterly planning and execution, and working with PM and UX colleagues to determine how users should interact with ML/AI outputs for a new feature.

  • Lead a development team responsible for ML/AI-powered customer experiences
  • Provide technical oversight for the team ensuring best practices are followed and elegant solutions are pursued and delivered. 
  • You will provide mentorship enabling continued career growth for team members. 
  • You have experience constructing and maintaining development roadmap, leading agile development practices and ensuring team performance is world class. 
  • Navigating and managing uncertainty

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.S. / M.S. / Ph.D. in Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, working with stakeholders across geographies. 
  • 6+ yrs developer + manager experience combined with 2+ yrs experience managing/leading development team(s)
  • Past experience software engineering production-grade services
  • Experience formulating use cases as ML problems and putting ML models into production
  • Knowledge of and/or curiosity to learn about specific Sumo Logic customer problem domains
  • Operational excellence orientation: SLIs/SLOs, monitoring and troubleshooting, on-call rotations
  • Solid grounding in core ML concepts, basic statistics, and the judicious use of abstraction

Sumo Logic Privacy Policy

The expected annual compensation range for this role is $200-$230k + bonus + equity. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible to participate in our bonus or commission plans, as well as our benefits offerings, and equity awards.
