Your role and your tasks:
As our very first DevOps Engineer (m/f/x), you play a crucial role in creating a DevOps culture that drives efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Establish DevOps Culture: Foster collaboration within the IT team to enhance communication and streamline processes. Collaborate with the other IT teams to understand the requirements and design efficient and reliable DevOps solutions.
Setup the Infrastructure: Build the foundation for deploying the projects for all IT teams, developing the code and making sure it’s shipped with the proper infrastructure. We use AWS, with some services hosted on-premise via Hetzner Bare-Metal.
IaC & Automation: Design, implement and manage IaC providers (e.g. AWS CDK) to provision and manage cloud resources efficiently. Automate and simplify manual processes , workflows, and deployments to increase operational efficiency.
CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for multiple projects, enabling automated building, testing, and deployment.
Configuration management: Build and manage infrastructure using configuration management tools like Ansible - ensuring scalability, high availability, and quick disaster recovery.
Security and compliance: Integrate best security practices into the development and deployment process and address performance issues and security vulnerabilities.
Monitoring & Trending: Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of applications and infrastructure.
Tool Selection: Evaluate, recommend and implement DevOps tools & technologies that align with company goals and objectives.
Documentation: Document and communicate standards, guidelines, and best practices related to source control, code management, and deployment processes.
Requirements:
At least 5+ years proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Linux System Engineering & Hosting, preferably in an agile software development environment.
Good Experience with AWS, and on-premise infrastructure.
Proficient in containerization technologies like Docker / Podman and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Good knowledge of scripting languages like Python and Bash for automating routine tasks.
Solid understanding of configuration management tools, version control systems, and continuous integration tools like git, Bitbucket and Ansible.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Uptrends. Experience with DataDog is a plus.
Good knowledge around broader automation topics, web applications and imaging / application packaging.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to mentor new colleagues during their onboarding phase.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
