Founded by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, and Sierra Club, Climate Power integrates hard-hitting research, polling, state and national earned media, digital and paid media to influence the national conversation, embolden leaders to take immediate, bold climate action, and expose climate deniers and their oil and gas lobby allies.
About This Role
Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Senior Designer to contribute to day-to-day design production and delivery for the Creative Department. In collaboration with their team members, the Senior Designer will ensure Climate Power’s design assets amplify the organization’s priorities, cohesively express Climate Power’s brand identity, and inspire key audiences to act.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management: Own and execute the pre-production, production, and final delivery of a portfolio of the department’s design assets. Manage individual workload ensuring the on-schedule delivery of assets against tight deadlines while balancing the simultaneous production of multiple assets.Creative Development: Implement a specialty in specific design verticals to engage in concept creation and ideation in response to creative briefs and brainstorm pitches; collaborate with team members and across departments to develop creative content to amplify key campaign messaging and exploit opportunities for political wins around key moments. Brand Compliance: Rely on a strong understanding of branding, typography, and communication design to ensure brand consistency, high-quality output, and effective creative story-telling and data distillation across scope of candidate’s design portfolio. Design Awareness: Follow trends in design and maintain awareness of trends on social media, especially around climate politics. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as need and capacity dictate.
Essential Qualifications
5 years of relevant prior work experience executing design products for digital media distribution preferably in an agency or political organization setting.2 years of people and/or project management experience; demonstrated success in leading departments and diverse teams and managing complex projects.Deep understanding of how to work collaboratively to develop high-quality, creative solutions that visualize messaging and data, tell compelling stories, and inspire key audiences to act.Ability to manage multiple design projects and work efficiently and independently in a very fast-paced, nimble environment under tight deadlines.Demonstrated commitment to strengthening a visual identity system and ensuring consistency across all brand expressions.Ability to receive and apply creative feedback. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; extremely well organized with superior attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor, and ability to work well on a team.A strong portfolio of design work.Expert-level proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications - especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator - is required.Desired Qualifications
Experience in motion graphics, illustration, and/or web development are nice to have, but not required. Location & Hours of Operations
Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in DC. This position can be located anywhere in the U.S., but must be able to work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates. Our Hiring Timeline and Process

Our interview process generally involves 3 rounds of interviews, ranging in length from 30-60 minutes. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meets or Zoom. Successful candidates that move forward in the hiring process, may be invited to complete a skills assessment activity (for which they will receive compensation) and will undergo a vetting process, including reference and background check to ensure cultural and political alignment.
