Senior Data Analyst, SEM

Position summary:

The Marketing Analyst team within Sojern’s Science and Optimization group plays a crucial role in innovating and validating new capabilities within Sojern’s marketing platform. Leveraging their deep knowledge of performance marketing, extensive experience with major ad platforms, and keen analytical skills, the team continuously enhances the performance, delivery, and efficiency of Sojern’s AI marketing products.

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst, SEM who is a highly detail-oriented and data-driven SEM expert. This analyst will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists and Applied Scientists to shape the product roadmap and deliver performance for thousands of Sojern’s clients. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with SEM platforms, proficient in SQL and Tableau, capable of making informed decisions and executing tasks independently.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate across functional teams, including Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Scientists to enhance the performance, delivery and efficiency of Sojern’s Artificial Intelligence marketing products. 
  • Utilize analytical tools to monitor and analyze key performance metrics, providing regular updates and actionable insights to stakeholders to enhance SEM efforts. 
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to uncover opportunities for scaling SEM automation and optimization. 
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in search engine algorithms to continuously refine and adapt strategies. 
  • Assess and address performance opportunities within the product.
  • Collect feedback from peer analyst teams and provide training on new features/algorithms. 
  • Execute AB testing and analyze results to inform data-driven decisions for ongoing optimization and automation.

What you bring to the table: 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to develop hypotheses, diagnose, and optimize campaigns running at scale for improved performance and margin.
  • Ability to rigorously dig into large datasets to identify patterns/insights and drive data-driven decision-making. 
  • Intermediate/advanced level of proficiency in using analytical tools and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data for informed decision-making including:
    • SQL expertise to extract and troubleshoot data from multiple sources.
    • Tableau expertise to visualize  and communicate  insight. 
    • Spreadsheet usage (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets) including pivot function and formulas. 
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with 2-4 years of extensive SEM platform expertise (Search Ads 360, Google Ads/Google Ads Editor, Microsoft Ads/Microsoft Ads Editor), including campaigns execution, keywords generation, performance evaluation against predefined goals, and improvement opportunities identification.
  • In-depth SEM knowledge of SEM campaign setup, structure, management, and optimization. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and present findings to internal/external stakeholders, influencing product roadmaps and the development of machine learning systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across time-zones and adjust priorities as needed.  
  • Strong attention to detail ensuring accuracy and precision in data analysis, project documentation, and business requirement gathering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Business, Economics,Marketing, Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics is required.
  • Ideal: some knowledge of Python scripting, experience of executing and analyzing AB tests.
