Responsibilities
Our Public Health program in Atlanta GA is looking for a Senior User interface Architect/ Content Designer . The qualified applicant will participate in mix of content strategy, content design, and UX writing efforts to improve Agency web sites and applications. The position will design and develop, then iterate and improve content design standards, structures, and templates. This position requires an experienced Content Designer with particular focus on content structures and content templates.
What you will do:
Content Strategy :
• Drive a consistent content experience, balancing user needs, business objectives, and technology constraints to create the highest quality, best possible experience.
• Perform content audits, comparative reviews, and other analyses of existing content to identify opportunities for standardization and areas of potential improvement.
• Leverage industry, business, audience, product, site research, and analytics to guide content decisions for digital products and experiences.
• Research and report on relevant industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for new or improved content experiences across the organization.
• Consult on when to create new content templates or leverage existing solutions.
Content Design:
• Develop strategic and evidence-based content designs to inspire, shape, and create high quality and compelling experiences for target audiences.
• Audit and analyze content site-wide to identify content patterns, relationships, and content templates.
• Document content structures, elements in these structures, and specifications for each element; assist with the creation of mockups to illustrate new or enhanced content templates.
• Create information architecture frameworks, content models, wireframes, content governance documentation, style guides/guidelines, and priority guides to communicate the overall content plan.
• Partner with UX Research Team to develop effective content template test plans and understand user needs; maintain documentation related to user needs and their application.
• Determine the most appropriate content (e.g., copy, data, images) and channel for all user touchpoints, including mobile and desktop products, email, push notifications, and text messages.
UX Writing:
• Re-write existing content or develop new content that aligns to best practices and the recommended guidance.
• Demonstrate how content can transition to new, standardized content templates.
• Review top level content, consult on high value pages, write new content.
• Partner with health communicators to train them how to rewrite content.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
• 8 years of relevant experience in creating content designs, structures and models, particularly for large scale web sites and applications.
• Understanding of design principles and how content fits into overall user experience, with proven ability to map content to user tasks and adapt UX end-to-end processes to the needs of a given project.
• Experience with a data-informed approach to content design, including qualitative (user testing, Full Story) and quantitative (A/B testing, analytics) data.
• Experience with content governance and style guides.
• Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with expertise in writing for web.
• Experience with health or public health writing such as for CDC, state health departments, or medical/health website like WebMD.
• Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively with all levels of contract and customer organizations and with translating research and technical terminology into common terms.
• Demonstrated experience with meeting deadlines with both timeliness and quality and with balancing and prioritizing work across multiple projects.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Agency clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of the CDC public health mission.
• Knowledge of CDC design standards and Agency Web templates.
• Understanding of and experience with implementing Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Experience working in a government contracting environment.

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
