The Community You Will Join: 

The team is responsible on a global basis for payroll, equity administration, procurement, global risk assurance (internal audit), accounting, financial reporting and technical accounting and policyWe ensure:
  • Employees are paid
  • Supplier invoices are paid
  • Purchasing of goods and services are done in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Financial results are report accurately and timely to internal stakeholders and to external parties including governmental agencies
  • Compliance with Airbnb financial and non financial policies and practices

The Difference You Will Make:

As a Platform Controlling team member servicing our Hotel Tonight team, you will have broad exposure to various functions at Airbnb, including Business Insights, Engineering, Product, Business Development & Finance Systems and will also work closely with external business partners. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles, excellent technical and communication skills, ability to manage staff and partner effectively across business functions. This position reports to the Manager, Airbnb Platform, RevOps.

A Typical Day: 

  • Assist with the operationalization and optimization platform accounting including income statement and balance sheet impacting items related to HotelTonight
  • Support the monthly financial reporting and close process for the global platform accounting function, including the creation or review of routine and non-routine journal entries and adjustments
  • Ensuring SOX compliance with key controls and accurate GAAP financial reporting, fulfilling internal and external reporting requirements
  • Preparing audit schedules in partnership with the technical accounting, financial reporting and accounting team
  • Collaborating with finance systems and engineering teams on the design and implementation of revenue automation/recognition tools
  • Assist with external audits
  • Assisting with various ad hoc projects as needed

Your Expertise:

  • 5+ years experience in accounting with a Big 4 firm combined. Some industry experience at a large scale technology company is preferred.
  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline
  • CPA or CA, or in progress of obtaining,  is required
  • Understanding of Revenue recognition - ASC606, Revenue Accounting and, GAAP reporting, and  financial statements. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart knowledge across teams. Should be able to Capable of handling multiple Revenue Platform Accounting projects in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment.
  • Superior facilitation and collaboration skills to gather, document, and understand requirements obtained from various personalities across organizational boundaries.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge
  • SQL knowledge a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment 
  • Systems experience: Workday, Oracle or other large ERP preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart change across functional and business boundaries
  • Ability to identify, design and implement internal controls and best practices

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
