Who Are We

We are Virtual Internships, an EdTech startup on a mission to bridge the gap between education and the workplace by making internships accessible to all.

Over the last four years, we’ve established partnerships with 12,000+ companies, 100+ universities, and supported thousands of students and graduates in becoming more employable via our online work experience product.

We are a team of 150+ across 25+ countries, and recently secured our Series A funding from investors such as Hambro Perks, Sequoia Capital, Kaplan, Arsenal Growth, and Ascend Vietnam Ventures - who have collectively guided the likes of Google, Linkedin, WhatsApp, Canva, Udemy, and Applyboard.

Our 2022 awards include:

Your Role

We are a start-up that is scaling fast. Therefore, we are not hiring for someone to do repetitive work. We are hiring resilient and multi-faceted problem solvers. To thrive at VI, you will need a ‘growth mindset’ where you embrace the challenge of figuring something out.

As part of our Global Sales team, you will play a key role in identifying university stakeholders, building relationships with them, and help drive continued growth with university partnerships throughout the European Region.

Reporting into the VP of Sales, you'll have the guidance and mentorship of an experienced sales leader with a proven track record in the industry. Alongside their tutelage process, efficiency, and tenacity will be critical to our/your success in this role.

Your Impact

  • You will be responsible for prospecting, generating new leads, and creating opportunities for your regional Account Executive that contribute to the overall growth of the company.

  • You will work closely with the Demand Generation team to ensure that Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) are nurtured through the sales funnel.

  • You will conduct Discovery calls to understand the prospect's needs and pain points, and identify the best solutions to meet their requirements.

  • You will be the first point of contact for potential customers and play a key role in creating a positive first impression of Virtual Internships.

In your first month, you will:

  • Get onboarded and brought up to speed with all things VI - our company structure, product, mission, and values

  • Meet with colleagues across the company and start building relationships that will help you better understand the company

  • Review and learn about our current programs, systems, and data so you can gain insight into where we currently are.

  • Shadow SDRs & Account Executives to gain insight into their role and the sales process.

  • Develop an understanding of the buyer personas and their pain points.

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Have full knowledge of the VI product and how to sell to university partners

  • Conduct Discovery calls independently and build rapport with prospects.

  • Continuously optimize your outreach approach and develop new strategies to generate more leads.

  • Collaborate with the Demand Generation team to support the development of targeted outreach campaigns to specific buyer personas.

  • Likely have attended an industry event to widen your network and knowledge of the sector

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly sales targets for qualified leads and opportunities generated.

  • Work closely with the Account Executives to hand over qualified opportunities and ensure a smooth transition into the sales process.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Virtual Internships product and service offerings, and effectively communicate these to potential customers.

  • Continuously learn and stay up-to-date on market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for growth.

TLDR Version? You are a driven early-career professional who enjoys sales, working with targets and education.

As for the long version….

  • Revenue-Driven: You will be a passionate revenue generator, builder, and straight-up hustler. You will work tirelessly to ensure that every lead is followed up with and that every opportunity is maximized to its full potential.

  • Self-Starter: You are a self-motivated individual who takes ownership of their work and has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You are proactive and always looking for new ways to improve your performance.

  • Results-Driven: You are focused on achieving your goals and are not afraid of hard work to get there. You have a strong sense of urgency and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure success.

  • Strong Communicator: You have excellent English verbal and written communication skills and can effectively communicate with prospects and team members. You have a talent for building rapport and can articulate the benefits of our products or services to potential customers.

  • Analytical Thinker: You have strong analytical skills and can use data to make informed decisions. You are able to identify patterns and trends and use this information to develop strategies to optimize your outreach approach.

Your Experience

  • 1-2 years+ experience in an business development role (preferably in Education/EdTech/SaaS)

  • Experience meeting and surpassing sales quotas

  • In addition to business development, you’ve got qualifications or experience in some of these areas: digital marketing, business, negotiation, client relations, or project management.

You stand out from the crowd if:

  • You have worked at a Series A or Series B scaleup

  • Experience using a CRM (Salesforce/Outreach.io preferred)

  • Experience speaking working with or selling to university executives

  • You have worked at a remote-first organization

Consider this our wish-list. We know there will be great candidates that don't meet every one of these criteria—if you're passionate about the role and have early-stage startup experience, we'd still love to hear from you.
