The Revenue Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the month-end close process for revenue. This candidate will have frequent interactions with sales, operations, legal, and finance teams and will be instrumental in ensuring an accurate and efficient recording of revenue. An ideal candidate will have an in-depth US GAAP ASC 606 accounting background and exceptional communication skills.
- Lead all aspects of revenue month-end close process to ensure the revenue close meets the company's internal deadlines.
- Maintain internal controls and evaluate actions required for compliance with the company's revenue accounting process, conformance with SOX Policies and ASC 606.
- Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, Legal and other cross functional teams during the day-to-day operations.
- Work closely with sales team to understand the nature of pricing, order form compliance, and non-standard deals to ensure all documentation and approvals are in compliance with company policy.
- Able to articulate technical revenue accounting guidance and apply it in real world situations.
- Responsible for review of various monthly and quarterly revenue related balance sheet and income statement accounts and quarterly disclosures.
- Assist the financial planning team with revenue forecast by proving expertise on revenue recognition matters and provide expertise on the data flow within the internal.
- Communicate and establish relationships with internal IT teams; act as liaison and be the advocate for system improvements, product introductions and/or changes, and other procedures having a revenue or accounting impact; provide and implement suggestions for areas of process improvement to ensure efficiencies amongst all teams.
- Responsible for managing revenue related support provided to external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews and to the internal financial reporting team for revenue related disclosures in SEC filings.
- Research and document complex revenue accounting matters in technical memos.
- Lead process improvement and system implementation projects.
- Perform other ad hoc responsibilities, as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
- Current CPA license required.
- Minimum 5 years of revenue accounting and related experience under US GAAP, including SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606, and public accounting experience required.
- Requires in depth knowledge of end-to-end Order to Cash process and business process improvement experience.
- Requires detailed knowledge of ASC 606 and related revenue pronouncements
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, and working experience with NetSuite required.
- Ability to manage complex contractual arrangements.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and compliance standards.
