QA Automation Engineer, Team Lead

We’re looking for an innovative QA Automation, Team Lead to ensure the software and data are functional, reliable, and in line with the end user’s expectations through the implementation and maintenance of automated quality checks throughout the delivery process. We will rely on you to help guide a team of other QA automation engineers and Data QA Testers through day-to-day work responsibilities.


What you'll do:
  • Serve as the automation team lead and SME for building out and maintaining automated testing frameworks and solutions, driven by scrum team deliverables, engineering/quality metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Guide/mentor/influence and provide leadership to the test automation team to identify and solve test automation needs and opportunities, including tactical considerations, refactoring, maintenance, and delivery exceptions during a scrum team sprint. 
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to team members in their areas of test automation responsibility, including hands-on participation in daily activities (writing code, creating, and reviewing pull requests, while maintaining an area of responsibility within the automation team) 
  • Work with other QA engineers, developers, SMEs, Product Management, and/or various stakeholders to understand requirements for an area of work and translate those requirements into a test plan that measures application and/or data quality, while maintaining workflow and iterative deliverables within the automation team. 
  • Coordinate and drive all automation test activities within the software automation team - including collaborating with various stakeholders, iteratively planning automation work item completion, and suggesting and/or implementing key strategic and tactical test design decisions to maintain automation framework functionality, availability, and performance.
  • Monitor testing statuses in all pre-production environments during each sprint to ensure automated testing run effectiveness, refactoring, and scheduling are on track with sprint goals to deliver a release to production. 
  • Facilitate automated pre-production regression testing, and smoke testing with the SQA analysts during pre-production testing activities 
  • Provide hands-on mentorship and problem-solving with automation team members and assistance with the resolution of any roadblocks.
  • Conduct test reviews (and attend code & design reviews) to help ensure that the development process is followed and that the criteria for delivery to product owners are attained. 
  • Design, write, and submit pull requests for automated test case suites targeted at new or existing software, engaged in the core operations during the software development/delivery cycle - reducing the number of manual tests, keeping performance, stability, and value in mind.
  • Assist with ad-hoc troubleshooting of testing cycles in SIT, production issues, and help define any changes to the automation coverage that may need to happen to ensure the quality of automated test suites.  Additionally, assisting with decision-making around automation testing exceptions for accelerated deployments and deployment night facilitation of automated test suite execution.
  • Help design and implement heavy data validation and ETL processes testing in an automated fashion with Data QA, SDETs, and SEs to increase data accuracy checks at all stages of delivery.  Directly participate in the operationalization of ETL validation by guiding the QA automation team in day-to-day activities toward this goal.
  • Lead the development and execution of automated testing tools within the automation team, pull together team members and other stakeholders, as needed, to solve challenges and quality issues.  Report automation KPIs and metrics monthly.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing test automation through process operationalization of the automation team, including feedback and requests from other teams - specifically engineering/scrum team requests and SDET strategy considerations into daily expectations and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with manager concerning resource assignments and participate in the interview process as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Be a creative thinker with a focus on continuous improvement. 
  • Be proactive in keeping QA skills fresh.


  • What it requires:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of experience, training, or technical certification
  • 7+ years of professional experience in QA Software, and Data QA/Data Validation/ETL testing
  • 1+ years of QA lead responsibility experience 
  • Experience with developing automated test cases and working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD tools like Azure, and Jenkins for automated testing runs
  • Strong Experience with complex data validation and ETL processes testing 
  • Advanced experience with SQL Server and writing SQL queries to validate testing
  • Familiarity with C#, .NET
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, fluidic environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive action Customer focused
  • Works well in a highly collaborative team environment
