Product Designer, Assurance

Cisco Networking is an industry leader providing intelligent network solutions for organizations to securely connect users, devices, applications, and workloads everywhere. We empower organizations everywhere – from local libraries to global hotels – to focus on their mission and have technology that simply works. Cisco has been named #1 Best Company to Work For in the U.S. by Fortune in 2023!

What We Are Looking For

Network Assurance provides visibility to the experiences of the users and applications across the network end-to-end. It involves proactive monitoring, management, and verification of the network to guarantee that it meets the required service levels and supports the needs of the organization or its customers. As a Network Assurance designer, you will be designing analytics and tools for businesses and organizations of all sizes to maintain their operational continuity, optimize network performance, and protect against potential threats. You will also help drive unified user experience across Cisco cloud/on-premise networking portfolio.

You’ll craft outstanding experiences, design workflows and features within a product. You’ll develop deep domain knowledge, product expertise, and an understanding of complex customer use cases and deployment models, as you design features that simplify network management. You’ll support developing the vision for the product grounded in customer needs, and partner with cross-functional teams to build it iteratively. You’ll apply UX methodologies to your work, while balancing with lean design execution.

Our team's primary focus is on software, but we also find opportunities to collaborate with teams across the organization and think about how to improve the entire customer journey. Meraki believes the quality of our products is dependent on the quality of our teams. We place a high value on nurturing the growth and development of everyone on our team. We give and get feedback early and often, share what we know, and learn from each other.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts that reduce friction and increase satisfaction and loyalty of our customer base.
  • Design products: identify the right problems to solve, run and synthesize research, sketch and prototype solutions, make hi-fi visuals.
  • Iterate based on peer feedback, user research, usability testing, analytics, and other data.
  • Learn about the domain and workflows of our users.
  • Collaborate with partners in product management and engineering to define problems and explore solutions. Build effective working relationships and bring the wider team into the design process.
  • Present persuasively. Be able to tell the story of a project and build prototypes that precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Advocate for prioritization of design-centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis.
  • Translate what may start as ambiguous business needs into clear customer-focused solutions.
  • Participate in workshops, sketching and prototyping sessions; build documentation and templates that enable others to consume and contribute.
  • Evangelize the impact of design with business partners.
  • Mentor other designers and contribute to team processes and practices.
You're an ideal candidate if you have:
  • 3-5 years of professional experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams from strategy to delivery.
  • Experience working on technically complex enterprise products.
  • Knowledge of the networking domain or experience in a related product or field is a plus.
  • Balanced strategic research and discovery with shipping often.
  • Demonstrated making complex problems and workflows feel simple and approachable.
  • Strong command of the end-to-end design process.
  • Excellent system and interaction design skills. Shipped well-crafted and elegant designs.
  • Experience with and/or collaborating with UX research.
  • Worked with developers to understand constraints and to ensure that the details are done right.
  • Iterated on designs based on user research and feedback.
  • Persuasive storytelling and influence.
  • Developed relationships with product teams (including engineering and product management), grew their understanding of design, and worked cross-functionally to define and prioritize problems.
  • Made customer-centered design decisions, using UX methodologies and tools (double-diamond, personas, journey mapping, dual agile, lean ux, prototypes).
  • Have knowledge of data visualization.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%.  Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
