About the Role

i4DM is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. The Principal Software Engineer will be a pivotal member of our development team, responsible for driving the use of modern software development and DevOps tools, implementing DevOps pipelines in a cloud environment, and serving as a Chief Architect or Senior Engineer on a production system in SaaS/PaaS cloud environment.

This role also requires prior experience as a Software Engineer on a project hosted in one of the SaaS/PaaS clouds. This Principal Software Engineer will help translate customer IT needs and future goals into concrete, modular solutions using SaaS and PaaS technologies, such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics/Power Platform, Pega, and Box. Our engineer will help us deliver impactful solutions and achieve operational efficiency for valued customers, Veterans, and the VA by driving innovation, designing strategic architectures, and translating goals into reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work and collaborate on a team of project managers, business analysts, developers/engineers, and QA staff within an Agile DevSecOps environment. As a crucial member of our team, you will also be expected to interface with client representatives. Our team member will:

• Utilize extensive knowledge and proficiency in modern software development and DevOps tools, including GitHub, to drive best practices within the development team.
• Lead the implementation of DevOps pipelines in a cloud environment to streamline development and deployment processes.
• Assume the role of Chief Architect or Senior Engineer for a production system hosted within one of the SaaS/PaaS cloud environments.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to architect, design, and develop complex software solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior members of the development team to foster their professional growth.
• Drive innovation and identify opportunities for improvement in software development processes.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the team remains at the forefront of software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with customers, business and technology teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements, review solution intake submission information, document use-cases, and develop detailed, modular architectures.
• Articulate business and technical architectures to customers, development teams, and stakeholders.
• Support the development of technical strategies aimed at improving productivity across various functional areas within the organization.
• Operate effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks concurrently. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Resource Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields (Certifications in relevant technology plus a minimum of 7 years’ experience or a minimum of 10 years’ experience may be substituted for the educational requirement)
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant software engineering or solution architecture experience in IT environments.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing and implementing SaaS/PaaS solutions 
• Proven experience in engaging directly with clients to extract both business and technical requirements.
• Track record of effectively prioritizing features and sub-features, defining them with testable acceptance criteria.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable solutions and architectures capable of supporting thousands of users
• Experience designing architectures for Salesforce, Microsoft, Pega, or Box solutions 
• Proficiency in forecasting future level of effort based on previous experience and the success of solutions.
• Hands-on experience in the design and support of technical architecture for PaaS and/or SaaS applications.
• Comprehensive knowledge encompassing Cloud, DevSecOps, API strategies, data models, low-code/no-code (LCNC) solutions, mainframe systems, microservices architectures, and custom application development technologies.
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of modern software development and DevOps tools, including GitHub, with a track record of implementing DevOps pipelines in a cloud environment.
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to guide other technical subject matter experts in integrating their domain expertise into the solution design process.
• Ability to stay up to date with emerging SaaS/PaaS technologies and features to provide best-of-breed solutions to customers. 
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience supporting Veterans Affairs programs or Healthcare IT programs
• Expertise in modular application architectures
• Understanding and expertise of HCD/UCD principles
• Strong knowledge of APIs and integration strategies
