Principal Network Engineer

What you will do:  

Rumble is seeking a Principal Network Engineer who will be a key contributor to the design, deployment and support of the Rumble network infrastructure.  A successful candidate for this position will be an experienced networking professional, who is capable of creative thinking and has extensive experience building highly available and scalable networks at all layers.  Previous experience in service provider networks is a plus for this hand on technical role.

In this key role you will be responsible for:

  • Planning, designing and implementing highly available and highly flexible network infrastructure
  • Documenting designs and mentoring staff members
  • Regularly presenting ideas and designs for network expansion and resilience
  • Troubleshooting during times of critical systems failure and being on-call during rotations
  • Occasional travel to sites as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Expert level experience with core and datacenter network architecture
  • Significant experience with service provider L2 and L3 protocols, such as EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, BGP, IS-IS
  • Expert level experience with L2 and L3 addressing, tunneling, path selection, and forwarding table isolation
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills, a creative and methodical thinker who can work within a team of professionals
  • Expert level experience with 2 or more of the top 10 network equipment vendors and network operating systems
  • Vast experience with routing policy configuration
  • Professional level experience with common optical networking technologies
  • Ability to clearly articulate designs and ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient communicator who is capable of presenting information at all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to learn, be challenged and have fun in a dynamic and fast paced environment

Preferred Qualification:

  • Familiarity with one or more network automation tools and scripting languages
  • Involvement with traffic exchange at internet peering points
  • Broad understanding of anycast and DDoS mitigation strategies
  • Experience with network-based traffic filters and traffic captures

Desired Qualification:

  • Experience with open-source routing software
  • Experience with traffic engineering and segment routing protocols
  • Strong understanding of open-source networking stacks

Remote: Eastern Time Zone only, also willing and able to travel 10-25% of the time (mostly domestic)
