Who we are:
We're building the next generation of factories.
At Amper, we are on a mission to build the next generation of factories by empowering manufacturers to connect, orchestrate, and transform their operations with powerful, intelligent, and accessible products.
Legacy industrial technology is broken and does not meet the intensity, volatility, and competition that manufacturers face today. The vast majority of US factories are small and mid-sized plants with a variety of equipment types and processes, deepening the disconnect between traditional ways actually being adopted.
This traditional technology is often too complicated, expensive, and unfit for actual day-to-day use. That’s why clipboards, whiteboards, and Excel still dominate operational information—even with a system like an ERP, MES, or other in place.
Manufacturers deserve better.
We are uprooting traditional and siloed approaches to industrial sensors and software. This means taking a radically different approach that actually serves end users. Amper will be the new tech stack to run manufacturing operations: the first FactoryOS.
To make this vision reality, we are building a place where the most passionate and ambitious team members work with autonomy to create tangible customer impact at scale.
Come join us on this mission.
About us:
Amper, a Chicago-based tech startup that helps manufacturers modernize their operations, successfully closed an $11M Series A funding round in 2022 led by Lewis & Clark Ventures, with participation from Foundation Capital, Corazon Capital, Slow Ventures, SOSV, Converge VC, and GTMfund. Akshat Thirani, a fourth-generation manufacturer who grew up immersed in the family business, used his deep connection to the industry as inspiration for founding Amper in 2016, in partnership with Amper CTO and co-founder Philip House.
About the role:
This is a dynamic, high-energy role in which you will bring the IIoT to Amper’s Mid-Market customers, build Amper’s business, and bring the benefits of sensor data to customers. Typical sales will be $30-$100k and involve…
Being an expert in the product and how existing customers use the solution
Selling to executives as well as stakeholders across operations, IT, and maintenance
Building strong champions through key POCs in continuous improvement & operations
Demonstrating our product and solution virtually and occasionally in person
Building detailed businesses-cases
Managing trials and proof-of-concepts
Multi-faceted pricing negotiations
Navigating varying procurement processes
Amper provides complete resources and infrastructure for remote onboarding and remote work for the foreseeable future.
You should apply if:
You want to make a significant impact on the manufacturing industry. Your contributions will have real-world implications, from optimizing production processes to encouraging the next generation of workers to enter the industry and ultimately driving the success of manufacturers.
You are excited about startups and want to make an impact at an inflection point in the company’s growth. You will be working closely in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment with cross-functional leaders and teams across the CEO, CTO, Customer Success, Marketing, and more.
You possess a natural curiosity about how manufacturing businesses operate. One day you could be collaborating with a machine shop, and the next you might be diving into the intricacies of a billion-dollar manufacturing operation. Our top sales team members are driven to understand the inner workings of the manufacturing companies they support, enabling them to make a profound difference.
You excel at building genuine relationships with customers. Many manufacturing businesses still rely on outdated, manual processes, and they haven't experienced the transformative potential of the technology we offer. Our customers value the trust and enduring relationships that develop over time.
You aspire to join a team of industry leaders. Amper's culture of excellence means you will work alongside the best minds in manufacturing and IIoT technology, constantly pushing boundaries and achieving greater heights than ever before.
You thrive in a collaborative environment. At Amper, sales is a team effort. We foster a culture of knowledge sharing and support, pooling our expertise to deliver the best results collectively. Winning as a team is our ultimate focus. The impossible can be achieved with the power of “WE”.
If you resonate with these qualities, we invite you to consider joining Amper. Together, we can revolutionize the manufacturing industry and drive the success of businesses worldwide.
In this role, you will:
Own customer engagements end-to-end, from discovery and demo, to pilot and close
Convert inbound and outbound generated pipeline through strategic account nurturing and managing a partnership with a dedicated group of BDRs
Target accounts greater than $30k ARR
Drive strategic deals in net new customers and large multi-site expansion opportunities
Travel to visit customers at least once or twice per quarter
Travel up to twice per month for on-site prospect visits, potentially more
Champion, role model, and embed Amper’s cultural principles (Obsess Over Our Customers’ Success, Embrace Reality, Build for the Long Term, Insist on the Highest Standards, Extreme Ownership, and Being Lean) as we scale globally and across new offices.
An ideal candidate:

Storytelling — the ability to map a prospect's pain/problem to our product, and create a solution
Interest in going on-site and building relationships to close $30k+ deals
Ability to close $30k-$100k deals remotely (proven experience)
Ability to build new content (eg. high-quality decks & emails)

Flexible Working
At Amper, we have adopted a flexible way of working, enabling teams and individuals to do their best work, regardless of where they’re based. We value in-person collaboration and know a change of scenery and quiet space to work is welcomed from time to time, but also appreciate that the world of work has changed. Our offices remain open for those who prefer to collaborate or work in-office (with offices in Chicago and Charlotte), but we also encourage fully remote applicants. As most roles are not required to be in the office, we are able to hire remotely where Amper has an established presence. If the role is not required to be in a specific location, Amper will move forward with the remote location that works best for the business. All offers of employment are contingent upon an individual’s ability to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company.
