The Martech Developer team member is a cross-functional role that supports DemandLab’s clients' needs to provide custom solutions that connect martech platforms (analytics, customer engagement, customer experience, and attribution) and data services to support our clients' marketing goals.
The Martech Developer designs and implements digital tagging and analytics measurement strategy across various client platforms and campaigns, including the development, placement, and management of tags to collect and provide attribution data and analysis, testing, and ad hoc troubleshooting. Additionally, the Martech Developer within the Martech department is to create, develop, and maintain frontend assets for marketing automation systems, including email and landing page templates, as well as custom JavaScript to support advanced functionality.
This role will grow to assist with client deployment of RESTful web services, SQL analysis, and reporting, using and managing Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) software, and big data implementation and integration.
Qualified applicants must possess a background in digital tagging and analytics, online programming, and database structures with an interest in building marketing operations skills using marketing automation and CRM platforms, such as Marketo and Salesforce.
This role works closely with key internal stakeholders and under the guidance of the Manager, Martech Services and Tagging and Engineering Leads, to understand our client’s business needs and goals and implement successful attribution models to capture the data needed for driving business decisions, develop responsive, and effective solutions that help clients advance their use of email and web assets, and manage enterprise automation tools to streamline a wide range of business processes and data/systems integrations.
Our delivery team uses a number of tools, including an advanced project management platform, communications systems, as well as testing and quality assurance processes and platforms. The Martech Developer team member must be comfortable working within an environment that leverages technology to deliver our services efficiently, and values accountability and collaboration to ensure success across all client engagements.
Success Measures
The Martech Developer is expected to meet or exceed key performance metrics, delivering superior service in every interaction. These include:
- Implementation of successful attribution models to capture the data needed for driving business decisions.
- Ensuring clients receive responsive, knowledgeable, and effective solutions that help them advance their use of email and web assets in their sales, marketing and customer success efforts.
- Execution of high-quality frontend assets for marketing automation systems and custom JavaScript to support advanced functionality in line with DemandLab’s standards and policies.
- Effective design, development, and maintenance of various workflows and integrations within enterprise automation tools streamlining a wide range of business processes and data integration between different SaaS applications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Implement analytics tagging solutions using JavaScript to capture and report online visitor behavior and interactions into various web analytic platforms
- Manage analytic tags via an online web tag platform such as Google Tag Manager
- Develop JavaScript functions based on what needs to be accomplished
- Collaborate with developers, internal stakeholders, and business users to ensure analytics and measurement best practices are followed
- Develop frontend HTML/CSS/JS code for websites and emails based either on existing code or provided design (code only, no design skills required)
- Create and maintain customer-facing documentation related to data layers and tagging implementation requirements
- Create and maintain data visualizations and reports as needed to support analytics solutions for clients
- Provide SQL analysis and data integration across multiple platforms for business intelligence and enhanced martech/data services
- Use low-code integration platform as a service (iPaaS) solutions, such as Workato or Adobe Workfront Fusion, to support client integration and technical needs
Successful team members in this role must meet the following experience, qualifications, and education criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar certification
- 2+ years of digital analytics implementation experience
- 2+ years of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript experience
- 1 year+ of SQL-based or NoSQL-based database experience
- 1 year+ of server-side programming experience in languages such as PHP, Python, NodeJS, or Java
- Confidently able to read, write, and troubleshoot JavaScript code in browser/client-side environments
- QA/Validation of code and tagging activities in pre-production and live environments
- Experience working with tag management platforms and data layers
- Basic knowledge of demand generation, customer engagement, digital marketing, and communications strategies and tactics
- Ability to manage expectations and meet deadlines based on project requirements
- Confidence in discussing and documenting technical matters
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Fluent in English
- Organized, with a demonstrable history of attention to detail to ensure work is performed accurately, completely and meets or exceeds the client’s expectations
- Industrious, motivated, resourceful, and creative, with an ability to synthesize information quickly

- Experience implementing and using multiple tag management systems, such as Tealium or Adobe Launch
- Experience implementing and analyzing iOS and Android applications using Firebase
- Advanced knowledge in Adobe Analytics and/or Google Analytics
- Experience in using iPaaS/low code solutions such as Workato
- Experience with Adobe Workfront or Adobe Workfront Fusion
- Basic Linux command-line experience
- Salesforce experience (especially in Salesforce development)
