Manager Environmental Health & Safety

Summary/Primary Role:

The ideal candidate will have practical experience in people leadership and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program development, implementation, and progression. This candidate will promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness throughout the company through effective cooperation and collaborative efforts. The EHS Manager will work to ensure that health and safety laws and policies are adhered to in accordance with federal and state regulations. This individual will also be responsible for assessing, responding, and reporting incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing resolutions. This position will report to the VP, Human Resources.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Brightcore in efforts to accomplish EHS goals including, upholding the highest standard of health and safety standards while decreasing environmental impact and ensuring that all employees are working in the safest and most productive environment possible
  • Create and develop safety related policies and procedures.
  • Lead and complete root cause analysis for hazards, near misses and injuries.
  • Develop safety meeting cadence and provide guidance to leadership on conducting the safety briefs.
  • Train and keep up to date all leaders on safety and environmental related topics.
  • Complete new hire orientation for safety and environmental topics
  • Implement, update, and maintain the information in the SDS computer database.
  • Enter all incidents and near misses in a centralized database.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and complete all annual filings and postings.
  • Stay up to date on OSHA law changes.
  • Provide guidance to ensure operations are within OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain inventory for safety and first aid supplies.
  • Organize and conduct on-going training sessions with field and office teams.
  • Responsible for workers compensation program including claim filing and record keeping.
  • Maintain all safety training and worker’s compensation claims files for all employees.
  • Administer safety shoe and eyeglass program for field employees.
  • Oversee DOT requirements for CDL drivers, maintaining logs, safety violations, and documentation to ensure continued compliance.
  • Facilitate health and safety risk assessments across the organization including field safety risk assessment and mitigation plans.
  • Conduct Quarterly Safety Meetings ensuring a safe and secure environment across the organization.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science degree in EHS or related Safety/Engineering field
  • Must have experience with building and implementing a safety program within a construction, engineering, logistics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in developing an environmental, health, and safety program.
  • Experience with implementing and/or managing a DOT Safety program.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Certified Safety Professional (preferred).
  • OSHA 30 is required, in lieu of certification, must be willing to complete training within the first 90 days of employment.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Expected Hours of Work: 

An Employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base salary. The base salary hiring range for this position is $110,000-$145,000 per year with an annual discretionary bonus of up to 20% of base salary.

Travel Requirements:  

  • Travel Required up to 30% within the Northeast.
