Learning Technology Manager

What You'll Do

As a Learning Technology Manager, you will lead the learning technology team and be responsible for leading, managing, and mentoring teams of learning technologists. You will use your strong technical and leadership skills to drive operational excellence for learning technology design and development at iDesign.

Successful candidates must thrive in a fast-changing environment, be adaptive, and be a continuous learner in the technology realm. They will significantly impact our web portals and participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.

This is a fully remote, full-time, W-2 position.

You will:

Drive Operational Excellence in Learning Technology Development:

  • Oversee and continuously refine the learning technology course build process, ensuring excellence across all operational program developments
  • Oversee leads who are running the LMS template developments, accessibility, discovery and innovation, interactive e-learning, and other learning technology talent areas
  • Drive efficiencies in the learning technology course build process, ensuring consistent quality across all program developments
  • Leverage data analytics to assess time-to-development, streamline costs, and introduce innovative solutions
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, integrating new strategies that enhance the team's expertise without burdening financial resources

Lead and Develop Learning Technology Teams:

  • Lead the team to success through strong management principles
  • Foster an environment that prioritizes our company's mission, vision, and values
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks, aiming to cultivate a team of independent leads who can spearhead developments autonomously
  • Provide structured feedback and coaching, facilitating the growth of each team member
  • Regularly evaluate individual and team performance, recognizing achievements, and addressing any gaps in an actionable manner
  • Collaborate with Directors, integrated service leads, and VPs

Manage Learning Technology Talent:

  • Oversee hiring processes, ensuring we attract and onboard top-tier talent
  • Manage both full-time and contracted learning technologists
  • Develop comprehensive onboarding materials and processes to seamlessly integrate new hires and contractors
  • Strategically staff projects, accommodating the evolving needs of large and complex projects
  • Ensure that every project is adequately staffed with skilled professionals who are set up for success
  • Leverage data analytics and collaborate with staffing support personnel to ensure talent matching and adequate staffing for all real-time learning technology operations and program builds
  • Lead regular training sessions, ensuring the team remains updated and skilled in current methodologies

Make Collaborative, Strategic Decisions in Learning Technologies:

  • Act as a bridge between the team and the leadership, conveying company-wide priorities
  • Promote LX and UX principles in learning technology design and development
  • Promote ways of building and make decisions that optimize learning outcomes
  • Facilitate goal-setting exercises for leads and specialists that align with overarching company objectives
  • Periodically seek feedback from team members on leadership effectiveness and areas for improvement
What You Need to Get the Job Done
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of experience
  • Proven experience in online learning technology design, development, and leadership
  • Proficiency in learning technology team leadership, talent development, and operational efficiency
  • Proven experience in learning management systems and core LX and UI/UX principles in learning technology development
  • A keen understanding of learning technology processes and the ability to drive innovations in this area
  • Experience with hiring, onboarding, and managing staff for large and dynamic projects
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to derive actionable insights from data in order to drive efficiencies and innovation
  • A collaborative mindset, with a focus on fostering inclusivity and open communication
