As Lead Engine Programmer, you will be responsible for the overall quality and performance of our core engine and tools. You will provide leadership across the entire team as we navigate the tradeoffs between creative and technical requirements. You will set technical direction for engine features and proactively identify ways to boost efficiency at runtime and in our development workflows. You will build and guide a small team dedicated to driving our technological foundation forward. As a key member of our engineering team, you will help foster a culture of collaborative problem-solving, technical excellence, and continuous education and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with content teams to improve their workflows and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance for other engineers to improve performance and stability across all game code.
  • Hire and manage a small team of engineers dedicated to engine and tools development.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director on the long-term game engine strategy for the studio.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in game development with a focus on engine architecture and low-level systems.
  • Expert C/C++ programming and debugging skills.
  • Expert understanding of modern console and PC hardware architectures and performance characteristics.
  • Strong confidence in identifying, communicating, and navigating complex tradeoffs across departments.
  • Proven ability to design and build complex systems upon which many components of a game depend.
  • Experience as a manager and a desire to learn and grow as a leader.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience working on competitive multiplayer games and/or live service games.
