We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Total Rewards Specialist to join our dynamic People Team. This role will support the Compensation and Benefits organization by handling administrative tasks, managing employee queries, liaising between third-party partners, and assisting in the development and maintenance of compensation and benefits structures. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of relevant experience and be proficient in Excel, google sheets, HRIS systems, particularly Workday, and compensation platforms such as Aon Radford.

Compensation Administration:
- Perform staff support activities to develop, implement, and administer compensation policies and programs.
- Audit jobs for content and prepare job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties, and requirements.
- Develop and participate in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine the company’s competitive position.
- Review proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies, and practices.
- Recommend corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems.
- Formulate recommendations regarding the development of company salary structures, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures.
- Review requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignments.
- Prepare special studies and make recommendations on subjects such as incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation, or stock options.
- Assist in equity administration tasks and record keeping in Carta and Workday
- Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws governing compensation practices.
Benefits Administration:
- Administer and communicate the company’s benefits program regarding plan options, policy features, enrollment, and other requirements.
- Survey market data to determine the company’s competitive position in employee benefits.
- Assist in planning, developing, and redesigning company benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs.
- Provide technical and analytical contributions while gaining exposure and building expertise in compensation and benefits administration.
- Handle benefits-related data entry and reporting in Excel and various platforms.
- Assist with the administration of benefits data feeds and info sharing with carriers, leave of absence intake questions & reporting, open enrollment support, or audit/reporting assistance.
- Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws governing benefits practices.
Total Rewards Program Support:
- Contribute to the development of Total Rewards policies and procedures ensuring organized and scalable systems are in place.
- Partner with the Senior Compensation Analyst to provide recommendations for grading and leveling of positions by analyzing external market data and internal compensation information.
- Ensure that job architecture including job grades, positions, ranges, and job descriptions are accurately managed in the HRIS system, proactively ensuring data integrity.
- Provide exemplary customer service and hospitality in every interaction with fellow employees. Support the company in any way possible to ensure a successful and fulfilling work experience for everyone.
General HR Support:
- Support HR Generalists and People Operations teams with total rewards-related tasks.
- Utilize ticketing systems to track and manage HR-related requests and issues.
- Ensure data integrity within the HRIS system and assist with regular audits.
A Bit About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2 - 6 years of experience in a total rewards, compensation and benefits, HR generalist, or people operations role.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, with the ability to perform data analysis and create reports.
- Experience with HRIS systems, particularly Workday.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with compensation surveys and market data analysis.
- Familiarity with benefits administration processes and best practices.
- Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Physical Job Requirements
- Reading English, comprehending, and following simple oral and written instructions.

- Moving about to accomplish tasks and/or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Operating motor vehicles.
- Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing/driving/flying
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $65,600 - $82,000
Commission Eligible: No

Travel: Yes - Up to 10% of the time. Leadership or People-team off/on-sites
Location Requirement: Employment at Alto is limited to individuals residing in the following states: California, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, Illinois, New York, Kansas, Texas, Maryland, Washington (WA), Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin.
