Java Engineer

We are looking to hire an enthusiastic computer scientist with a passion for Java. This is a role on our database product team, contributing to the design and development of the Apache Jena graph database.

Full-time. Remote working offered with one team day per month in the office.

As a Java Engineer in the backend platform team, you will work on delivering and enhancing our platform's capabilities around data ingest and movement, streaming event processing, generating materialised views of data, security enforcement and providing APIs that facilitate secure data access for end user applications. You will be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, development, test, deployment, operations, and troubleshooting. You will work with both open source and proprietary technologies, and this may involve contributing to open source projects when appropriate.

We will consider anything from graduate to 2 years experience for this role. We will also consider candidates with maths, science or engineering degrees if they can demonstrate exceptional Java skills and good understanding of standard algorithms and data structures.

• We don’t expect junior candidates to have experience in database development, but we do want someone who is bright, analytical and keen to learn.
• This role will offer the candidate the opportunity to be mentored by a team of Java gurus
• Additional external training provided where appropriate

Candidates must be UK-based. Salary dependent on experience.
