Human Resources Director

The Harris Poll is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment who finds joy in creating order and structure within a growing organization.  The HR Director will be a new addition to the team with a focus on HR Operations navigating international employment law, policy development, and change management. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the ideal candidate will be confident handling multiple priorities, proactively and methodically assessing areas of need to implement processes and collaborate with multiple stakeholders of varying departments and positions.  The HR Director will assume some people management responsibilities within the team.
 
The ideal candidate approaches their work with a proactive, problem-solving attitude to apply their expertise to a variety of areas within HR.  This role will recommend, develop and implement policy and efficiencies, apply HR trends and data to enhance the employee experience while supporting business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a high level of emotional intelligence and balance their communication and people skills with the ability to act as a project manager on both large and smaller scale initiatives keeping projects on track in a timely and organized fashion. The HR Director will embrace the opportunity to touch many facets of HR while collaborating across multiple teams to make an impact within an entrepreneurial setting. 



Responsibilities
  • Act as the go-to specialist for Canadian HR;
  • Act as a change agent; actively listen to evaluate areas of need; create and execute change management plans including training and support for employees;
  • Design, develop and deliver tailored HR solutions to the business units’ needs;
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to make informed decisions and improvements;
  • Lead best in class HR practices and objectives, ensuring alignment with Company strategy, specifically in the areas of; compensation, workforce planning, employee relations, training and development and performance management;
  • Partner with the business leaders to achieve business objectives by identifying human resources and organizational development issues and by leading the analysis and diagnosis to support client and team needs;
  • Lead HR programs and manage change initiatives that best align with a positive, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality work, and collaboration;
  • Measure HR service level and quality to ensure HR is adding value to business unit and identify external business and market trends, anticipate external influences and adjust HR strategies;
  • Manage complex projects, develop project plans, monitor progress, and deliver on time; examples may include career pathing, performance and development initiatives, compensation incentives development, etc.
  • Develop trusting relationships to coach and consult leaders in the areas of leadership development, talent and performance management, change and people management issues
  • Balance the ability to coach employees on personal and professional development and goal attainment as employee advocate while maintain objective of business needs and reasoning;
  • Drive talent management, culture, and DEI programs
  • Oversee Canadian benefits and leave programs



Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven experience navigating international employment law and policy, specifically within Canada;
  • Thrives in fast-paced environment and embraces ambiguity with the ability to easily pivot to address multiple priorities;
  • Demonstrated success mentoring and managing team members in a remote work environment;
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, systems/technologies, policies, and procedures with experience in process improvement and optimization that support solutions to complex problems;
  • Experienced in guiding change management from evaluation to planning to implementing processes through effective communications;
  • Skilled at identifying developing needs and working closely with business partners to propose appropriate and/or innovative solutions;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for coaching and mentoring with demonstrated ability to engage leaders and employees of all levels;
  • Highly autonomous yet collaborative;
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills supporting the ability to manage various deliverables with conflicting deadlines.
