Hours of work: Full Time, Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm

About the role:

Cypher is the UK’s leading coding school. We inspire children to learn the language of the future through creatively themed coding lessons both in person and live online. We take students between the ages of 5-12, through our STEM.org certified computing curriculum and prepare them for the digital future, teaching them core coding principles and how to apply these to real world settings.

Job Purpose: To manage the recruitment process, manage the teachers and the scheduling of all club/camp shifts and to be the first point of contact for HR matters arising.

Start Date: Mid/Late August

Job Location: London

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment
    1. Managing the recruitment process for teaching staff including: hiring cycle, scheduling & execution
    2. Liaising with Schools Director for recruitment timelines/needs
    3. Drafting Adverts, Job Descriptions and Person Specifications for required roles
    4. Posting adverts on various media including Workable, our recruitment and hiring software, LinkedIn, University job boards, etc
    5. Responsible for organising interviews, shortlisting, and hiring
    6. Leading the interview process with a member of the Cypher team assisting you
    7. Carrying out background checks post-offer: DBS, References, Qualifications, Fitness for Work, RTW, Overseas Checks etc.
    8. Carrying out all onboarding including providing links for Safeguarding, prevent and first aid training
    9. Entering all recruitment data onto Teacher CRM in line with Safer Recruitment in Education legislative requirements
  • Scheduling
    1. Scheduling all weekly clubs and holiday camp shifts on Sling, our scheduling software
    2. Ensuring all Teaching shifts are staffed on a termly/weekly/daily basis
    3. Communicate to all teachers about available shifts, training and marketing activities via Discord, our messaging system
    4. Complete information sheets, risk assessments and other required paperwork for schools alongside the Schools Director
    5. Organise cover for club and camp teachers as required
  • HR
    1. As the first point of contact for staff, respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests
    2. Maintain records of personnel-related data (leavers / joiners)
  • Other
    1. Produce and submit reports on recruitment & scheduling activity to CEO and Schools Director
    2. Help with Customer Service
    3. Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the CEO and Schools Director

 

 

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ PERSONAL QUALITIES

Qualifications/ Professional Bodies

  • Educated to university level or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ HR experience
  • Offering advice and guidance to staff in a professional way
  • Managing recruitment processes
  • Experience managing schedules & people
  • Working in an educational setting (desirable)

Skills/knowledge

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload within agreed deadlines
  • Knowledge of HR best practice
  • Knowledge of HR Employment Law (desirable)
  • Awareness and understanding of safeguarding and welfare of children (desirable)
