Our team has successfully launched a new and innovative technology platform, Allē, which serves millions of consumers, tens of thousands of aesthetics providers and thousands of colleagues throughout the US. Since its launch in November 2020, Allē has delivered curated promotions, personalized experiences and had millions of consumers use it as part of their beauty journey.
We’re looking for a Head of Data as we prepare to launch a new array of game-changing technologies on our successfully adopted platform. If you’re interested in working within a startup-oriented environment, while having the backing of a very large company, please read on.
As the Head of Data, you will report to the CTO, as well as continuously collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to solve the most important data problems.
You Will
● Lead the discovery, definition and delivery of our enterprise data platform, democratizing the production and consumption of data while maintaining impeccable standards.
● Hire, mentor and drive strong operational execution for a team composed of Data/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Product Managers, Data Architects and similar.
● Drive the vision and architecture for our fledgling Data Mesh which will sit adjacent to existing data technology, eventually displacing legacy systems in favor of the progressive, streamlined platform your team materializes.
● Toggle between evangelizing your vision to the organization, ensuring strong execution of data products and systems, and collaborating with peers/stakeholders
to ensure the work of your team is highly integrated with our Software and Marketing functions.
● Lead teams who build ML driven products that fuel content and promotional recommendations, ad spend optimizations, market segmentation and next-best-actions for our SaaS users and more.
● Skillfully establish systems for data governance, discoverability, observability and security.
● Increase the trust and utility of data across our organization through data quality, lineage, freshness, completeness and ease of use.
● Bring increased fidelity to our data privacy and ethics approach, championing our stance internally and partnering with our Product Marketing team to build customer awareness.
Required Experience & Skills
● Experience building modern enterprise data architecture and systems utilizing Data/ML Ops, distributed computing, streaming technologies and other industry best practices.
● Familiarity with tools like AWS (Sagemaker, Kinesis, SQS, Lambda, EMR, EKS, etc), Snowflake, Python, Kafka, FiveTran, Airflow, DataDog and Segment.
● Experience working on SaaS and consumer facing products, B2B2C, marketplaces, or similar.
● 15+ years of relevant experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Systems & Architecture with a proven track record for delivery.
● 5+ years of experience managing data teams of 30 or more highly productive individuals
● Demonstrated experience in attracting and hiring top talent.
● Demonstrated ability to plan and execute in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment with multiple business and technical priorities.
● Demonstrated experience managing teams who productize machine learning technologies from conception to delivery.
● Deep understanding of architecture, system design, infrastructure, model development and data and machine learning pipelines.
● Experienced at effectively managing a distributed team.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with a team of technologists as well as with senior management and business executives.
● Comfortable working in a collaborative setting and fostering empowerment by pushing decision making to those closest to the data.
● BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field; or comparable experience.
