Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated grant writer to grow our institutional funding from various sources in support of Penny Appeal USA’s mission. The Grant Writer will primarily focus on researching and building relationships with funders, writing compelling applications, and staying on top of reporting and other deadlines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Advance our funding diversification efforts through the identification and stewardship of grant funding from sources such as foundations, corporations, and governmental agencies
- Establish a system for our grant objectives to support and grow our domestic and international programs funding
- Research potential grant opportunities and partners that align with our programmatic objectives and mission, conduct follow-ups and build relationships with funders
- Submit applications that addresses the information requested and make a compelling case for support
- Acquire familiarity with organization and our programs and services; develop template for different funding focus area; maintain and update folder of required documentation
- Obtain unrestricted and general funding grants
- Oversee grant reporting requirements and deadlines for timey results
- Plan and monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables including compliance, reporting and budgets
- Coordinate with the Programs Department and other teams as needed to gather data, support and monitor status of deliverables
- Perform other duties as needed to support the work of the Development Department and the organization
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in preparing grant applications
- Proven experience in successfully securing grant funding
- A strong business aptitude and business case writing/presentation skills
- Strong comfort with constant deadlines for grant submissions, reporting, updates
- Understanding of development and humanitarian issues/nonprofit experience a plus
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, strong attention to detail
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, task and management tool
- Commitment to the mission of Penny Appeal USA and respect for its faith-inspired values
- Must be highly self-motivated, extremely well organized and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
