Game Designer

If you are a game designer who loves the immersion, control and untapped opportunity that Virtual Reality (VR) provides, then we would love to hear from you!

This role will involve designing and optimising the experience of a variety of projects being made here at FuturLab.

The successful applicant will have a huge passion for the VR experience, have demonstrable experience of working on at least one VR game already, and be fully up to date with the design trends and patterns related to all things VR.

Reporting to the Design Director, and working closely with the VR team, you will ensure that the vision for the games become actionable designs that will deliver a quality VR experiences for our players.

Along with the working on the design specific for the VR experience, you will also assist with the design and content creation for the games across all platforms.

As a remote-friendly studio, we are pleased to offer remote working wherever possible. This role can be fully remote, based out of our sunny seaside office in Brighton or a mixture of both!

Requirements

  • A passion for playing and creating games, particularly Virtual Reality (VR) games.
  • Worked on at least one previous VR game from conception to being shipped.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively liaise with all game development disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of game design and mechanics.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Unity is beneficial.

 

Responsibilities

  • Designing and driving the implementation of the VR controls, VR-specific tutorials and interaction systems for the games.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation relating to the VR elements of the games.
  • Providing the authoritative voice for the creative decisions relating to the VR experiences.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of cutting edge VR design principles, latest trends and best practices.
  • Collating and analysing feedback from internal and external focus testing and incorporate the identified improvements and solutions into the game designs.
  • Assisting in the design and content creation for the games.
