Full Stack Javascript Engineer

Mediavine is seeking an experienced Full-Stack JavaScript Engineer to join our Ad Tech team. This engineer will have a strong understanding of web technologies and a desire to design, implement, and launch cutting-edge features. Things move quickly in Ad Tech, both in code execution and business needs, and the ability to pivot and roll with the changes is essential. Applicants must be based in the United States.

The Ad Tech team is at the heart of what makes Mediavine tick. It is a highly skilled and focused team of engineers working to build the best ad tech platform in the industry. They move quickly and execute at a very high level, building bleeding-edge technology in an ever-changing landscape.

The core work focuses on systems that facilitate auctions with advertising partners and ad placement on over 10k publisher websites. On the backend, we manage services handling 50-80k+ requests per second… billions per day. We promise you will be constantly learning and have endless opportunities to use your creative problem-solving skills.

You have mid-to-senior-level experience (~5 years) building modern application backends in TypeScript and Node.js. You also have significant experience with client-side JavaScript and DOM manipulation. You should also have significant experience designing, debugging, and optimizing client and server-side JavaScript applications to make them fast and reliable.

You regularly write technical specifications, enjoy pair programming with team members, and are experienced in writing automated tests. You will be expected to participate in code reviews and provide overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.

You are very self-motivated and want to work with a talented team that supports you in your efforts to grow professionally. You manage your time exceptionally well, communicate effectively, and can collaborate in a fully distributed team.

• Write well-designed, testable, and performant code
• Interpret and fulfill engineering sprint stories including estimates and design documents
• Develop innovative solutions to help us stay ahead of the curve in ad technology
• Frequently develop complex features and bug fixes
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
• Interface with Tech Leads and Product Managers to receive and clarify objectives
• Pair with other developers, as well as provide technical guidance as needed
• Design continuous integration pipelines to facilitate AB testing and easy deployment/rollback of features
• Contribute to the overall growth of the engineering team through paired programming, knowledge sharing, and documentation

Requirements

Location:

• Applicants must be based in the United States

You Have:

• 5+ years of relevant professional coding experience across a broad range of projects
• 4+ years of experience with JavaScript and DOM manipulation. You'll be writing code that runs in browsers and server-side without JS frameworks
• Strong experience with Typescript and NodeJS in a production environment
• Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with A/B testing mechanisms
• A passion for page performance and experience with measurement with tools like Lighthouse
• History of successfully working on distributed/remote teams
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (Git, CircleCI)

Nice to haves:

• Experience working in the Ad Tech industry
• Experience with PreBid.js and Video.js
• Experience with HTML/CSS
• Experience with Cloud and AWS services (Fastly, Fargate, S3, Grafana/New Relic monitoring
