Financial Analyst

FINANCIAL ANALYST (Temporary Contract until January 31, 2025)

Summary

The Foundations Financial Planning & Analysis team is looking for an FP&A Analyst to support the team temporarily until the end of January 2025.

In this temporary role, you will support globally distributed teams and departments in financial data-driven decision-making and evaluation of impact. Using our suite of cloud-based financial software, you will build and analyze reports, perform variance analysis, develop updated forecasts and projections for different departments, and present your analysis to senior leaders. Additionally, you will support the Senior Manager, Finance and the FP&A team in some strategic projects and other upcoming tasks.

Business Analytics & Reporting

  • Support departments in decision-making processes by performing data-driven analysis.
  • Perform month-end close activities for two departments, including variance analysis, variance reporting to CFO and leadership teams of departments.
  • Assist in preparing expense forecasts, measuring performance to the forecast and explaining variances.
  • Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and visualization of reporting information for month-end close, program evaluation and financial planning processes.
  • Support strategic projects across teams in the Foundation.
  • Use our financial reporting system to produce reports and analysis as needed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s + 2 years of relevant experience in FP&A, Business Analytics, Accounting, Program Management or similar. 
  • Experience working with financial planning and reporting systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to successfully self-manage multiple priorities including urgent tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work well on a team

Additionally, we’d love if you have:  

  • Previous work experience with Workday Adaptive Planning preferred.
  • Finance Analyst or Finance business intelligence and reporting experience.
  • Understanding of the free culture, free software, or online rights movements.

Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$[ZONE 3 MIN] to US$[ZONE 1 MIDPOINT] with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
