Financial Analyst- Renewable Energy Storage

Blue Sky Utility is a unique renewable energy project developer. We develop, finance, own and operate renewable energy projects, mainly in the C&I space; in particular, we are providing cost saving solutions for commercial real estate landlords and tenants. The energy storage Sr. Associate or Analyst will model, diligence and manage utility-scale energy storage project portfolios in multiple states.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage financial models analyzing the economics of storage projects, portfolio acquisitions at NTP, and tax-equity or debt transactions.

  • Manage/oversee third-party developers developing projects for acquisition at NTP. Compile, prepare and/or document all pre-NTP documentation.
  • Develop and maintain data rooms for use in financing transactions. Review purchase agreements, operating agreements, financing agreements, host site and offtake agreements. Lead and/or support contract negotiations.
  • Partner with business development, project management, legal, and senior management. stakeholders to effectively manage financial & project risk to maximize value.
  • Negotiate lease terms with host site owners
  • Run RFPs for various third-party services.
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to effectively understand and convey financial risks and opportunities on the projects. Draft investment memos detailing market analysis and returns sensitivities. Communicate results and recommendations to the management team.
  • Review and prepare term sheets for acquiring projects and portfolios.
  • Utilize analytical tools and energy modeling software to evaluate energy storage opportunities.
  • Act as an in-house expert on energy storage value proposition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering. Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience modeling and financing utility scale, standalone storage projects earning merchant and contracted revenues
  • Experience with New York CDG programs / VDER a plus
  • Experience working with Fractal Energy modeling software a plus
  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience working in the US energy market required
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Posses a creative thought process with the ability to analyze new markets, opportunities, or financial structures to enhance value. Critical thinking. Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • CFA a plus

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current annual salary range is $130,000-$180,000
