Job Summary:
The EMR/Clinical Applications Implementation Specialist supports the successful implementation of the electronic medical record system in physician practices and provides ongoing system technical support, including contributing to the creation and utilization of data and reporting tools to drive informed business decisions. This role is responsible for working with the EMR and IT Teams to manage and execute initiatives ranging from new EMR implementations, EMR conversions from legacy systems, system upgrades, building interfaces, customizing workflows and addressing issues, and providing system expertise and data to both corporate departments and clinical teams. With a focus on collaboration, this role will work closely with clinicians, various clinical application and IT vendors, and internal teams, requiring the ability to multitask, problem-solve, and respond with urgency.
Essential Job Duties:
EMR Configuration, Implementation, and Onsite Go Live & Post Go Live Support
Configure, validate, and maintain practice-specific system settings in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for allergy clinics. Able to oversee system-build tasks/projects independently, if necessary.
Perform changes to clinical EMR templates/forms/workflows/system admin settings as requested and approved by the Corporate EMR Director.
Serve as technical and clinical liaison for all ancillary applications and interfaces required for optimal EMR functionality.
Create and execute project work plans, revising plans as needed to meet changing needs and requirements.
Provide pre-implementation and at-the-elbow go-live support for the clinics.
Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure training quality and consistency.
Collaborate with EMR Training Specialist and EMR Director to ensure training is scheduled and delivered on-time and to specifications.
Facilitate and provide support to resolve user issues, problems, and requests in a timely manner.
Participate in ensuring the integrity and availability of information through proper testing and validation of components and modules of the EMR.
Work collaboratively with RCM, Finance, Operations, and Marketing Teams to utilize clinical and operational data housed within the EMR to drive business strategy and intelligence to accomplish practice-defined goals. Provide analytic and reporting support.
Work collaboratively with and serve as an EMR SME for other AllerVie Teams, supporting communication channels among clinicians, clinical application and IT vendors, and other related departments.
Ongoing EMR Support
Provides ongoing business and technical support of the assigned solution(s) and engages vendor support teams in communicating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues post-implementation:
Works with the end-user/department to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.
Communicates issues to the vendor per required process, tracks status, documents resolution, and updates system documentation, and when applicable, updates workflows/processes and policies and procedures.
Follows established change control processes and understands the impact of solution changes to the Electronic Health Record (EMR) or other clinical and business information systems.
Provides end-user assistance, develops requested reports, and participates in help desk functions.
Regularly seeks end-user/department feedback and demonstrates to the end-user/department that they incorporated such feedback.
Works with EMR Training Specialist to create detailed documentation of all operational and downtime policies and procedures on their assigned solutions and troubleshooting documentation for the Help Desk.
Providers support in testing, training, and implementing new system upgrades, releases, and enhancements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
A successful candidate will have exceptional skills in and a passion for building processes, implementing changes, and streamlining workflows in a private-equity-backed healthcare organization, utilizing a technical, patient-centric mindset, and working with a small, dynamic team.
3-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced environment (private equity or healthcare background preferred) with EMR implementation and/or software application implementation experience
Demonstrated experience in a healthcare provider setting
Demonstrated experience in implementing/migrating/converting EMR solutions
Familiarity with extended medical terminology and medical practice workflows
Working knowledge of database applications, including extraction and querying skills
Experience with business intelligence tools (Sigma, Tableau, PowerBI)
Experience working within an integrated corporate support team, cross-functionally, and with medical practice managers
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Well-versed in MS Office365, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
Experience with project management tools/platforms and ticketing systems
Ability to manage multi-functional projects simultaneously, while remaining flexible to pivot priorities to support changing business objectives
Strong documentation, training, and communication skills
Excellent technical aptitude
Strong customer service and collaborating skills
Able to travel as necessary for go-lives
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Analytics/Informatics, Health Science, Nursing Science, Healthcare Administration, or related technical field
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
