As a Drupal Backend Engineer at NKF, you will partner with a variety of stakeholders to translate ideas into impactful digital experiences. Our flagship website kidney.com receives over 25 million web visitors every year so you will get an opportunity to create scalable solutions and tackle interesting technical problems. You will make a difference in the lives of millions of people suffering from kidney disease.
This is a full time, remote position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with internal teams to build digital experiences and applications.
Build, test and deploy feature additions for existing Drupal sites with a strong eye for detail, test performance and cross-browser compliance.
Clearly communicate technical challenges to those with less technical knowledge.
Provide estimates and timelines for web development projects.
Maintain, support, evolve, and own NKF’s design system leveraging Drupal.
Translate static assets from web designers into dynamic web experiences.
Research, establish, and enforce code and design standards for maintainability, usability, performance, and accessibility.
Contribute to product and technical documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Drupal application development.
Mastery of web fundamentals, like HTML/CSS, strong knowledge of Javascript (including jQuery).
Strong working knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
Bonus points for experience with a Drupal 7 to Drupal 8/9 migration project.
Strong understanding of API integrations.
Experience with designing and building responsive, mobile-first web pages.
Experience in custom module development.
Experience with Git and GitHub.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; openness to feedback.
Familiarity with platforms like Google Analytics, Salesforce, and Optimizely is a plus.
Degree or comparable work experience and training.
WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION
Must be able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Must possess a high degree of tact, discretion, decision making, professionalism and patience. Maintains effectiveness even under pressure. Uses a personal computer, photocopier, fax machine, digital telephone system and voice mail and other standard office equipment. Must be flexible for overtime and some business travel (including weekends, weekdays, evenings, and holidays).

Salary Range: $100,000- $115,000
