Director of Research

What You’ll Do: 

TalkLabs substantiates our modality of therapy by spearheading research initiatives that also contribute to the development and enhancement of our platform.The Director of Research offers a unique opportunity at the intersection of technology and mental health; working collaboratively with a dynamic team of clinicians, researchers, and technologists to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital mental health.

Reporting to our Chief Medical Officer, you will manage the execution of research activities including: designing research protocols, ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements governing human subjects research, working with our partners, obtaining grant support for applicable research, publishing research results, advising internal stakeholders on research implications, and presenting research findings at relevant conferences.

Conduct Translational Research

  • Design data analytic plans and/or experiments with clear deliverables and outcomes to measure impact and success of product/service enhancements for all business lines.
  • Track historical data, identify user types and ensure adaptation of offering to the different audiences receiving care on the platform.
  • Identify promising but under-represented audiences that could be better understood through research.
  • Adapt outcome measures used to these audiences.Work with external research partners (e.g., academic institutions, mental health advocacy orgs, etc) to publish groundbreaking research on important topics and populations in digital mental health.
  • Build strategic alliances with academic institutions and universities that accelerate and extend the basic and implementation science goals of the platform.
  • Actively contribute to scientific and clinical community conferences and proceedings to professionalize and promote the platform as an evidence-based, accessible, and responsible approach to delivering care.
  • Publications in professional and scientific journals are highly desirable.Seek funding/grant opportunities that involve academic partners in pursuing key research goals and that enable large scale research projects.
  • Manage existing grants and work as a proactive partner to grant administrators.
  • Work with marketing and business development functions to communicate research findings and promote valuable program offerings, as well as exploring research projects in collaboration with those functions.Assist data scientists and account managers with data for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

Performs other related duties as assigned.

About You

  • PhD in Clinical, Counseling or other license eligible Psychology or related field 
  • 3+ years of consulting, business, organizational leadership, or related experience
  • Ability to build and maintain solid relationships across multiple levels of management
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on and dive into details of processes and operations

Compensation

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our salary bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The base salary range for this role is between $160,000 and $180,000 with a competitive bonus. Within the salary bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
