About the Director of Finance
The Director of Finance will manage the processes and strategic approach of our finance and compliance operation.This includes the creation, management, and implementation of the day-to-day financial processes, including the annual budgeting process, and overseeing financial compliance processes, such as 990s and annual audits. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to see all financial processes from start to finish.
Financial Management (70%)
Manage budgets, accounts, payments, and overall finance and compliance.
Suggest and implement improvements into Only One’s overall financial systems and controls
Contribute to the strategic planning process by providing analysis and projections of financial data and positioning, the impact of decisions, and long-term budget forecasting
Day-to-day and ongoing financial management:
Handle all correspondence with various government agencies in relation to financial filings.
Budgeting:
Development Support (10%)
Partner with the Development team on appropriate items such as outstanding accounts receivable, grant budget reporting, financial information for donors, or other items as needed.
Assist with post-award grant paperwork processing, ensuring compliance with external agencies and/or sub-award contractors.
Provide support to other donor relations functions when needed.
Audit & Compliance Management (20%)
Lead completion of annual tax, finance, and compliance-related filings as well as state filing renewals, including 990s and annual audit (in partnership with CEO and Board of Directors).
Lead relationship with auditing firm on IRS and other financial reporting requirements.

About you…
Experience managing the financial operations, including annual budgeting process, for nonprofits.
Knowledge of and experience with generally accepted accounting principles and compliance regulations for 501c3 organizations.
Ability to summarize analytical work and findings in a compelling way.
Self-starter, comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
Able to work with diplomacy and tact at all times, and without ego. Leverages input to push work to the next-level.
Flexible and adaptive to effectively manage changing priorities and new opportunities.
Comfort with various methods of financial analysis and reporting in a non-profit setting.
Experience leading 990s filings and proficiency with other tax and compliance filings.
Experience working with non-finance staff or leaders to build budgets; the ability to explain complicated financial processes and functions to non-finance staff.
Experience working with development teams on financial reporting, such as grant budgets.
Experience contributing financial analysis, insight, and modeling into a strategic planning process or other long-term planning.
Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel, or other accounting software; general technical savviness.
Experience managing restricted funds.
Understanding of budgets as a values statement; ability to work within confines of financial reality to create an inclusive budgeting process.
The ability to think long-term and strategically when proposing solutions and projects.
Ability to work independently for extended periods of time in a remote environment.
While an accounting or finance-related degree is preferred but not required for this position, your application materials should clearly articulate your financial experience as related to the above qualifications.
Location: This is a full-time remote position with the ideal candidate located in New York City.
Salary: $100,000,000 - $125,000. The salary range referenced is based on US resident applicants only.
