The team:

When it comes to telling the world about Jobber, Marketing is your department. They handle everything from spreading awareness, to answering “What’s Jobber?,” to getting new customers in the door, to turning those customers into Jobber advocates! 

The role: 

Reporting to the Senior VP, Marketing, the Director, Marketing Planning & Strategy will partner closely with marketing leadership and be the liaison between strategy and execution;  helping to define strategy, build the supporting x-functional roadmap, and define and drive processes that encourage collaboration, drives accountability and delivers on time in-market campaigns that are measured towards defined outcomes. This is a key leadership position on the marketing team that will help Jobber continue to scale and drive our mission to help small business owners succeed, we are looking for a strategic decision maker, someone who’s passionate about building functional process, a good problem solver, able to navigate with multiple priorities and demands. 

The Director, Marketing Planning & Strategy will:

  • Be a key partner in defining and driving the marketing strategy, making sure it’s aligned with the organization’s strategic plan,  you’ll know how to ask the right, challenging questions to define if we’re on track
  • Own the marketing roadmap:  collecting ideas, inputs and insights from marketing leadership, and defining our key milestones and deliverables in market that align to our overall strategy; you’ll help hold the team accountability if we stray to far off course
  • Build and enable the processes & capabilities that to execute on that cross functional roadmap and define capacity planning; you will be fully supported by marketing leadership.  
  • Coach and mentor the leaders inside the Marketing department by being objective and forcing the hard conversation in the room (when we aren’t aligned)
  • Follow business performance and help adjust course if necessary (capacity planning and evaluation to help inform hiring plans
  • Help drive agenda for semi-annual marketing leadership team onsite meetings

To be successful, you should have

  • Proven experience in a senior ∕ leadership-level marketing role
  • Program management experience
  • Ability to think strategically and build roadmaps that align execution to strategy. Knowledge of integrated marketing and how to build process around it
  • Opinions on process that work for different situations (agile vs traditional marketing planning processes); and demonstrated experience making decisions on which to use when
  • Experience defining and building processes across a scaling marketing organization
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across the marketing team
  • Experience with complex budgets and leveraging data to drive decisions. 
  • Ability to influence
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Highly adaptable (fast paced environment)
  • Great problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Quantitatively focused
