Salary Range $85,000-$95,000

Rebuilding Together, a national housing and community revitalization nonprofit with more than 110 affiliates around the country, is seeking a Director of Federal Grant Quality & Compliance. This position can work remotely and reports directly to the Vice President, National Programs and Impact Measurement.

The Director will lead the design and management of government partnerships in order to exponentially increase Rebuilding Together’s capacity to provide critical home repairs for low-income families, older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, and victims of natural disasters. Federal grants require a significant initial investment of time and resources on behalf of both the national office and participating affiliates. The Director will create internal practices and external resources to ensure federal grants are sustainable, compliant, efficient, impactful, and transparent for affiliates and their communities. This highly collaborative position will work with multiple teams within the national office and develop relationships with affiliate leaders across the country.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the federal grant portfolio, ensure sustainable workflows for national and affiliates, and strengthen communication and collaboration cross departmentally.
  • Develop and oversee policies, procedures and reporting to ensure compliance with federal agencies.
  • Collaborate with the development team to oversee the federal grant pipeline and opportunities for growth. Ensure that federal grants are mission-driven and in alignment with strategic priorities to advance service delivery and capacity building.
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Operations team, Development team, Network Advancement team and grant administrators to develop and submit federal grant applications.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with federal agencies on grant administration, including submission of grant applications, action plans, reporting, amendments and responding to requests for information.
  • Provide proactive and responsive support to national staff grant administrators and other staff involved, to ensure that grants are on target, compliant, efficient and impactful. Ensure that staff roles and responsibilities are clear and staff members meet expectations.
  • Oversee federal grants budgets. Collaborate with the Finance and Operations team, Development team and grant administrators to develop financial projections, ensure transparency and consistency, and establish accountability.
  • Ensure that federal grant subgrantees have infrastructure to effectively administer federal grants, including providing onboarding and training as needed. Ensure a transparent and solutions-focused approach to affiliate expectation setting, monitoring, and conflict resolution.
  • Represent Rebuilding Together on coalitions and peer groups that advance federal grant opportunities.
  • Act as ‘air traffic controller’ for all federal grant workflows, including grant compliance, policies, procedures and reporting, paying special attention to the hand-off of responsibility and communication between departments.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of demonstrated success overseeing grant programs, including experience working directly with government funding and compliance.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to design, manage, and track complex federal programs, while adhering to compliance requirements and budget targets.
  • Skills in developing and implementing federal grants include a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences and metrics to monitor outcomes.
  • Budget forecasting experience preferred.
  • Experience monitoring a federal grant pipeline and writing federal grant applications preferred.
  • Proficiency with fundraising and other presentation and program management software is essential, including Salesforce and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
